student racingYou’ve had an incredible season winning group 1s allover the world, what’s been the highlight of the seasonfor you?

WILLIAM BUICKThe highlight for me has to be the St Leger at Doncaster,it was my first Classic which means a lot and also myfirst English group 1.

student racingWanting to be a jockey isn’t a career choice that you pickout of the blue, why did you decide to be a jockey?

WILLIAM BUICKWell my mum was an amateur jockey and so I was sort ofborn into the racing world, it just seemed like the naturalway to go.

student racingA previous champion jockey once said you were the‘laziest jockey in the weighing room’, what are yourthoughts on this?

WILLIAM BUICKHaha that’s a bit out of order! It’s all good banter though,he’ll get it back.

student racingDo you feel the pressure when you’re on a hot favourite?

WILLIAM BUICKYou get very excited, you just have to try and stay calm,not let it get to you and stay calm and collected.

student racingYou’ve seen the gorgeous girl at the bar and you fancyyour chances, how are you going to go about it?

WILLIAM BUICKWalk over and try and get chatting is normally my firststep, then chances are she’ll probably ignore me! I’ll keepgoing, try and get a number and take it from there!

student racingWho’s the best horse you’ve ever ridden?

WILLIAM BUICKI’ve ridden many different types of horses so it’s hard topin down exactly one, Dar Re Mi was the best mare, andprobably the best horse, Arctic Cosmos means a lot to meafter Doncaster and the 2 year old Dream Ahead who hasbeen fantastic this year.

student racingDo you struggle with keeping the weights or do you lovetucking into a Maccy D’s every now and again?

WILLIAM BUICKI try and stay away from them but it doesn’t alwayswork, i’m quite fortunate with the weights, my weight is8-6 and that tends to be fine everywhere

student racingYou’re finishing off a race, which jockey do you leastwant to come up against?

WILLIAM BUICKAny of the top jockeys to be honest, you never want to seethe likes of Ryan Moore, Fallon or Frankie there! Youalways have to hope it’s a lesser type.

student racingWho’s the biggest joker in the weighing room?

WILLIAM BUICKMartin Dwyer. He’s your typical scouser, he’s got the bestsense of humour, and you definitely don’t want to be onthe other side of him in a slagging match! If you’re not onhis side it’s not going to end well!

WILLIAM BUICKDepends, brunettes, olive skin.
