Firstly, I went to the DiDa WildCare course page and read up on the tasks I had to do and what standard I would be expected to complete them to.

As well as outlining the coursework, The Dida website broke each task down into smaller, manageable steps.

Then, to ensure that I knew enough about the actual WildCare association, I made a mind map of the basic information I could fine on their website. This will be useful when I am making my publications, as they will make them appear more professional and accurate. It also tells me that they have special projects aimed just at children and teenagers, which means that I can appeal my publications to a wider market; not just adults as I had originally suspected.

Initial plan

With the target audience in mind, I set about making my initial plan more basic and clearly laid out, but still just as useful and organised. It has all of my dates laid out and extra contingency time in case of a missed lesson (i.e: PSE) which means that I don’t have to worry about not sticking to the exact schedule.

At first, I forgot to add the sub-tasks and wondered why my plan looked so basic. Then, I used the aims and goals on the DiDa website to give each section a sub-task.

After receiving feedback from my teacher, I realised that I needed checkpoints and contingency time, as well as more sub-tasks and organised dates that matched the set ones on the website. This new draft was saved and named as my “on-going plan” which will (now that it is properly up to date and accurate) will help me keep on top of my work load.

Database

I entered all the field names into my datasheet using the text from the DiDa WildCare website. Some of the field names required a validation rule, which meant I had to design an error message and use the right coding to ensure this worked. There was also a hyperlink and currency data type, and the rest were simply text.

Later, I changed all of my “yes/no” data types back to “text” because this would enable lookup wizard and allow the groups to be selected, in opposition to only being able to select “yes” or “no”.

My validation rules came in to play for a lot of field names. This one was for the field name “threat” and I had to remember to enter the validation code with the right number of “Or”’s

At first I didn’t put in the “OR's” and didn’t understand why the validation rule was not working. Then after I had put them in I was able to go to “Datasheet view” and check that the validation rules worked; which they did.

After making sure all my field names and types were correctly validated and edited, I imported my data into my table, which I named “endangered species” At first, I accidently exported the data instead of importing it and I had to go back and correct the mistake, I also forgot to close the table but I just had to click the error alert, close the table, and then I could correctly import my text.

I began to design my data entry form. Firstly, I had to re-validate my data types and use lookup wizard to enforce the suitable drop down box.

This is my logo. I used a simple “sea themed” design as whales are endangered and do not have as much awareness raised as other species.

My button was easy to create and only took a few simple steps. I plan on making it look more interesting in the near future but right now just having a clear idea of where the buttons should go is good enough.

I replaced my “Whale logo” with the official WildCare trust logo as it is provided on the DiDa coursework site and so that must mean that it should be used.

This Is what my completed data entry form looks like. I have tried to customise it so that it looks appealing.

I started my sources table. Even though I only have one used source I will have less hassle later on if I start now. I filled in all the appropriate columns and made sure to state what I would use the logo for.

This is my finalised form in form view. I got rid of the border around my picture so that it would blend in with the background colour and gathered the information from my imported data.

Membership card:

Because all my publications in the pack folder have to have the same basic design and layout, The font and margins I decide on for this member ship card will apply to the rest of my pack folder publications. I chose the font “smifage” and used a variety of images of animals to make my publication look interesting.

I found all my pictures on Google images, and remembered to include the WildCare logo.

Leaflet:

I found out information about each of the animals that I could use in my leaflet. I also did an introduction and photo collage on the title page, just like I did with all my other publications.

I started my membership pack. I printed all of the items from the membership pack and compared them to check that my theme was consistent. My test buddy gave me some feedback, which I added to my feedback PowerPoint.

When designing my presentation, I had to make sure that it was informative and all aspects were engaging, including pictures and information for the speaker notes. I did evidence for the presentation in a PowerPoint and got feedback for it, making changes.

I started my review, looking at the notes and answering all of the questions to evaluate the publications and my own performance throughout the project. I remembered that I had to cover every single publication, and evaluate my own performance, as well as analysing my performance in each of the publication sections.

Firstly, I used open mind 4 to make a mind map for all of the different sections and attached all of my work, in pdf format. I then wrote the contextual statements for each webpage, Including my candidate information and the attachment of pictures and gifs that would appear.

E-Portfolio

I made sure I had finished attaching all of my work before opening the website in Dreamweaver. I updated my ongoing plan and then made the header for my webpage; based on the one I had already made for all of my publications.
