You will be coaching a mixture of juniors and seniors in many different dance and drama styles. You will also be coaching young people who may never have had any previous dance training. You will be involved in putting together shows and dance pieces for competitions. Your main goal is to inspire young people and grow our sessions. The state-of-the-art £6 million building provides young people with access to a range of activities, all offering young people the opportunity to try new things, meet new friends and gain support from friendly, warm and positive staff and volunteers. Requirements: Work every Sunday . Must display an enthusiastic approach to teaching young people the proper technique

and safety. Have knowledge and understand in different dance styles to teach in sessions. Confidence when coaching and addressing young people. Good communication skills. Knowledge of all sessions. Demonstrate the goals and mission of Wigan Youth Zone.

Key Tasks: Support and develop the growth of the Wigan youth zone studio 3. Understand the needs of Wigan Youth Zone and communicate them in a clear,

consistent way to the young people, parents and guardians. Prepare and deliver sessions that meet with Wigan youth zone rules and regulations. Liaise with other organisations to enter the team into competitions. Create performances for Wigan Youth zone events and showcases. Liaise with your manager to discuss and order suitable clothing, footwear and props for

shows and competitions. Contribute to productions and competitions. Deliver exciting and inspiring drama classes. Develop and maintain a professional relationship with the young people who come to

train in the dance studio.

To be alert to issues of safeguarding child protection, ensuring the welfare and safety of Youth Zone members is promoted and safeguarded, and to report any child protection concerns to the designated Child Protection Officers using the safeguarding policies, procedures and practice (training to be provided)

To assist with any promotional activities and visits that take place at the Youth Zone. To actively promote the Youth Zone and positively contribute towards increasing Youth

Zone membership. To adhere to Wigan Youth Zone policies at all times, with particular reference to Health

and Safety, Child Protection and Equal Opportunities. To carry out any other duty with the Youth Zone provision and facility operations, and

within the competencies of the post holder, as directed by your line manager or a senior manager.

Person SpecificationEssential Desirable

ExperienceA coaching qualification in drama Experience of supporting young people who are disaffected, underachieving and / or have social / emotional barriers to participation

Experience of working in a team and alongside volunteers Some coaching experience either volunteer or paid work Experience of working with challenging young people Experience of youth work Skills and AbilitiesAbility to prioritise and be self-motivated Strong commitment to children and young people and an ability to engage and build positive relationships with all young people, including disengaged and disadvantaged young people

Ability to develop good professional relationships with children, young people and adults

Ability to work with young people to develop their social education by providing programmes of activities, services and facilities that are fun and enable young people to develop

Ability to coach, encourage, motivate and provide reliable support to children and young people

Confident in managing a group of children and young people Ability to deliver high quality activity programmes with children and young people who face social exclusion, disadvantage and disaffection

Ability to identify and challenge discrimination and discriminatory behaviour, taking appropriate action as necessary

Remuneration packageSalary: £7.50 - £9.50 per hourHolidays: 25 days plus 8 bank holidays (pro rata)

Pension: Eligible, after six months’ service, to join the Wigan Youth Zone Personal Pension Scheme: 3% of salary is contributed by Wigan Youth Zone, if the employee contributes 3% or more.
