WiFi Sensors/Transmitters Why WiFi? WiFi is the most widely used and cost effective wireless network technologies available today. It offers a standard secure way of offering wireless communication capability in both new and existing buildings. WiFi also supports the presence of multiple wifi networks in the same space allowing the separation of control and enterprise networks. Most importantly WiFi communicating sensors significantly reduce the cost of retrofit, by eliminating the significant expense of wiring.

WiFI Connectivity Solutions

Connectivity Solutions For Rooftops… Retrofit CO2 Control & System Fault Detection Wireless CO2 Retrofits: The RTUiLink™ offers a simple way to wirelessly connect AirTest’s TR9299-WiFi CO2 sensor to most Rooftop Air Handling units (RTU’s). This involves placing one of AirTest’s RTU gateways in the rooftop unit. The gateway then takes the signal from 1 to 4 CO2 sensors and provides a 0-10 volt output based on the highest level measured that feeds into the CO2 input on most economizer controls or RTU control systems. Users have a choice of using an existing WiFi network or to create a private overlay network that connects the CO2 sensor and RTU. RTU Fault Detection: Beyond just CO2 DCV control, versions of the RTUiLink™ also can monitor RTU operation and provide real time notification of equipment faults lead to poor performance, poor energy efficiency and pending equipment failure. The US DOE estimates that over 60% of current RTUs have significant faults that are unknown by the user or service organization. These faults can lead to significant energy waste. The RTUiLink™ offers two approaches to fault detection as described below. One involves adding additional wireless sensors to monitor the RTU. The second option is to tap into the fault diagnostic capabilities of a Belimo ZIP economizer control. Fault information can be retrieved via the RTUiLink™ WiFi network using a smart phone or tablet. Email or text message can also be sent using the GW4205 cellular gateway.

GW4201… CO2 Retrofit For Rooftop Units

GW4202… CO2 + Monitoring Of Up To 8 RTU Faults

GW4203… CO2 + Monitoring of Up to 25 RTU Faults with the ZIP Economizer Control

• Communicates with TR9299-WiFi to provide a 0-10V signal to the RTU.

• Can use an existing WiFi network or creates a stand-alone network. • One TR9299-wifi can support multiple rooftops or up to 4 CO2

sensors can connect to one rooftop (control on highest level). • Mounted inside the RTU. • In some cases an inexpensive power line carrier WiFi repeater may

be necessary to ensure robust communication between the rooftop and the indoor space.

Provides CO2 connectivity plus adds the following sensors: • 4 Bluetooth communicating temperature sensors • 2 clamp-on current sensors to monitor cooling compressor and fan

energy. A Bluetooth wireless current sensor can be added for 2nd stage cooling. Direct energy monitoring is also possible.

Faults Detected Include (Meets CA Title 24 FDD Requirements): 1) Economizer operating when it should or should not. 2) Too much outside air or too little outside air. 3) Compressor short cycling. 4) No temp drop over cooling coils after 5 minutes. 5) Thermostat function failure

• Provides 0-10 V CO2 Signal to Belimo ZIP Economizer for CO2 control. • Makes the powerful 25-point RTU diagnostic capability of the Zip

Economizer available via WiFi network or email/text (requires GW4205 Cellular Gateway). Belimo products are available from AirTest.

• Ability to override economizer function if indoor or outdoor dew point levels are above indoor design conditions.

• Most cost effective way of combining CO2 DCV, state of the art Economizer control and equipment fault detection in an existing RTU.

• The Belimo ZIP control is an ideal retrofit CO2 DCV in units without economizers.
