Year 4 trip to Hazard Alley Yesterday was amazing. We went to Hazard Alley and learnt all about being safe and had loads of fun. First my group went to the traffic light and were told that even though the light was red for the cares, we have to check because if the car is going too fast , when it puts its brakes on its not going to stop straight away.

Year 1 Football Tournament with AJD On Tuesday last, seven hardy souls from Year 1 took part in the AJD Year 1 football tournament at the Cres-sex Astroturf. It was a bright but very cold day and the players were well wrapped up and eager to play. In their first group of matches, they beat Cookham Dean School 1-0, lost 0-4 to Spinfield and 0-1 to Hannah Ball. This put them 3rd in the group and into the group 3 play-offs against another Spinfield team and West Wycombe. We lost to Spinfield but beat West Wycombe 1-0, ending up 2nd in that group. Everyone tried their best and our player of the day was Asher, who scored both the goals and was unlucky not to get more. Well done to all the team of Asher, Dylan, Jake, Jibreel, Noah, Oscar and Roshan and grateful thanks to Asher’s mum and Jibreel’s par-ents for their support and help with transport and Dylan’s mum and brother who came along to watch. Reading with your child This week in assembly I asked the children how many of them read with their parents before bedtime. I was shocked to see that not even half of our children raised their hand. I was saddened to hear them tell me individually on the way out that their par-ents are too busy or too tired to read with them or that they want them to watch the iPad to fall asleep with instead. Please make the time to read with your child. It is so important to their overall de-velopment both academically as well as socially. The emotional warmth and comfort a child receives whilst reading together is incredibly precious. It can help your child form a bedtime routine which will induce sleep and allow them to relax and calm down at the end of a busy day. If you can get your child into a story reading routine from a young age, they will be more likely to continue reading as adults. They will continue to enjoy the benefits of it, while enhancing their imagination, their thirst for knowledge, and escapism. Children ultimately learn to love books because they are sharing it with someone they love.

Literacy Planet

Over the next few weeks your child will be given a log in to Literacy Planet, an online learning resource to support children's learning in English. They may have already

been logged in and set up! Please find attached to the newsletter how to access Literacy Planet via a tablet or iPad.
