Widex: An American Hearing Aid Company with Danish
Origins
Widex is wide-spread; sixth largest in the world to
be exact. The brand has operations in 100 nations
and if you’re located in the U.S. you are
automatically routed to their USA website. The
company is so popular in the states that you might
miss the fact that it has Danish origins. The
hearing aid juggernaut was founded in 1956 by
the Tøpholm and Westermann families, who still
own and operate the business as of October 2011.
The headquarters of their operation is located in Denmark, just outside of
Copenhagen.
Their product line is quite extensive with seven models in all. The Clear line
is ideal for those requiring dual earpieces as they use wireless technology to
remain in sync. It is a BTE, or behind the ear unit like the Mind, Flash and
Real series. While these are essentially the same style, they have different
price points and features.
The Passion hearing aids made by Widex are virtually invisible and feature-
rich, with options such as in-ear status updates and speech enhancement. Lastly, there is the infant-focused model, Baby440. Many of the company's
devices have a signal producing feature called ZEN program, which is known to reduce or eliminate the effects of tinnitus, a constant ringing in the ears.
Clinical trials are ongoing to test and improve its effectiveness but if you're looking for relief today, it would behoove you to try earpieces with this
technology.
