• To reduce the potential for vendor fraud and abuse

• To assure that state and local staff deliver effective nutrition services that improve the health status of clients

• To increase breastfeeding initiation and duration rates among infants participating in WIC

• To successfully maintain the Crossroads management information system (MIS) in NC

• To ensure local WIC agency staff are qualified and competent managers of WIC services

• To achieve a caseload at 90% of the estimated population at risk

• To promote program coordination and integration between WIC and other Maternal and Child Health and NC Department of Health and Human Services Programs

• Assure local WIC agency compliance with federal and state requirements

• Utilize eWIC to deliver WIC food benefits

• Assigned Base Caseload times the per participant rate per month is how the WIC funding is established for an agency

• Current rate $15.75/base caseload participant/month

• FY16 was the first time in several years where caseload was adjusted down for agencies consistently performing below 97%

• Caseload is adjusted up once or twice per fiscal year based on performance consistently above 100%
