Winter 16A Hunter
(a response to 'Autumn 60' by Cornelius Cardew)
● For improvising soloist with ensemble of any size.
● The soloist is also the conductor.
● On soloist's cue, the ensemble should move to anyof the 12 boxes. Or continue doing what they aredoing. This repeats for the duration of the piece.
● The box in bold ('Soloist's Melody') shouldn't beplayed by any musician until the soloist has playedit.
● The soloist is free to improvise whatever music theywish, but it must feature the 'Soloist's Melody' atsome point.
● In addition, the ensemble should collectively labelthree sections 1, 2 and 3. The soloist may cuethese by holding up the appropriate number offingers. For added fun, the ensemble should pickthese sections and not tell the soloist.
● Ending: if an ending doesn't occur naturally, thesoloist should make a fist (to end the piece abruptlyon the next cue) or hold up 5 fingers (to fade out onthe current texture)
