Bar Coding for Tire Manufacturing

Begin bar coding by attaching bar code labels to products:

Raw materials that become rubber

Rubber that becomes components

Components that become tires

Tires that go to your customers

You can bar code products individually (green tires) or packaged in

groups (beads).

Apply pre-printed bar code labels supplied on rolls, or attach

individual bar code tags printed "on demand" as inventory is

produced.

Preprinted labels are just the right size to apply to individual products. They are designed to adhere to a tire, even through the curing process.

CTI can help you choose the bar code format and symbology that best ts your operation. We can also help you with a strategy for bar code use throughout the plant.

You can also bar code packaged products. These applications usually utilize “on demand” bar code labels that automatically print as inventory is produced. When you attach bar codes to your products, you

identify them. Now you can track products as they are produced, moved, tested and consumed.

When you store product data keyed by bar code number, you create Product Traceability.

Because components were

scanned at a building machine,

the data base record also links to

component product data.

To retrieve this information, just

scan the tire bar code label.

Each product bar code record also links to detailed

machine and operator data.

CTI can customize data to t your organization.

Bar Coding for Component Production using TFFIS

CTI’s Tire Factory Floor Information System (TFFIS) provides the most complete product traceability and inventory management.

TFFIS reports allow you to quickly trace and verify production.

TFFIS uses linked database records to hold this information.

Bar code number is key to all traceability and inventory functions

Linked database records hold process data for each product

TFFIS work stations (access points) accept operator and machine input to provide activity and inventory tracking

TFFIS monitors Create Dates to make sure that components are used before a dened expiration period

You can request inventory ordered by Create Date

Badge numbers are only included in records when operators log in to a workstation

Bar Coding for Tire Building using GTID

Use CTI’s Green Tire Identication System (GTID) to begin bar coding in the tire room

Operator manually applies bar code label to each tire at the end of the build process

Green Tire ID system creates a database record keyed by bar code number and lls it with information such as product code,

machine/operator identier and build date

How Can CTI Help?

CTI can help you choose a bar coding strategy that ts your operational and business practice requirements

CTI has experience with a variety of bar code readers, including Accu-sort, Sick, and Symbol

CTI can provide the right equipment, software, and people to help you succeed

Green tire identication simplies automated processing and data collection in the Curing and Final Finish areas. Green tire data base records can also include cure or testing recipe information.

Bar Coding for Curing Department using CTID

Use CTI’s Cured Tire Identication system (CTID) to begin bar coding in the curing department

Operator manually applies a bar code label to the bead of each tire loaded into the curing press

Operator scans the bead bar code and a press run card that contains product and press data

Cured Tire ID System creates a data base record for the tire using the bead bar code as a key. The record contains a cured tire

code and identies the cavity, date, and operator.

If you have TFFIS or GTID, you can also perform product validation before the tire is cured. When validation is successful, cure information (cured tire code, press cavity, etc.) is added to the bar code record previously created for the green tire.
