Dear Mr. Jones:This letter confirms our discussion that, the Edward E. Brickell Medical Sciences Library will enter a partnership with BaysideHigh School Health Sciences Academy for the purpose of Clinical Rotations to be held at the Edward E. Brickell Medical SciencesLibrary at Eastern Virginia Medical School for the 2007-2008 school year.
The Brickell Library and Partners
1. Agree on project/event goals: The Library will host 75 students during the school year. Students will learn to use health information resources, observe librarians, explore the option of a career in librarianship,
2. Agree on scheduling: Bayside Health Sciences Academy will assign the dates and times. Each clinical rotation will be 3 hours in length either 9:00 am – 12:00 pm or 1:00 pm to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday. If students do not appear at the appointed time, the EVMS Outreach Coordinator will call and report the absence to the Bayside Coordinator. Students will come in groups of 2-6. The Bayside Academy coordinator will provide a list of students along with the date their clinical rotation is scheduled.
3. Agree on resources needed for this project/event: The format of the session will be dictated by the space and technology available at the Brickell Library. EVMS librarians will conduct the clinical rotation project under the direction of the Outreach Coordinator. Students will provide their own transportation and will be covered by the Virginia Beach travel liability guidelines. The Brickell Library will pay parking expenses in an EVMS parking facility. Evaluations must be completed by each Bayside student. All evaluation results will be shared.
4. Agree to coordinate and agree on any publicity, news release etc.: The EVMS Chronicle will be covering this
project. Bayside anticipates no publicity at this point but will notify the Brickell Library Outreach Coordinator if the situation changes.
We appreciate the opportunity to partner with Bayside High School Health Sciences Academy and look forward to a long and rewardingassociation and many successful events and projects.
Sincerely
Ruth Smith, MLISOutreach Services CoordinatorEdward E. Brickell Medical Sciences LibraryEastern Virginia Medical SchoolPO Box 1980 Norfolk VA 23501-1980
