    The r(($ is well furnished and air conditioned with a large table, three chairs and a stoolnear the Doctor’s chair. The chairs are vacant since the Doctor has not come yet. Ascreen is also placed in the doctor’s room beside a hospital model bed.

    Dr. Ahmed walks into the room and after laying his stethoscope on the table, sits down beside the table. He is the Head of the Department and the other Doctors are foreigners.He is a tall man well dressed in a flashing tie and an e pensive shirt and pants. He wearshigh heeled shoes and makes an impressive appearance as he sits down in his chair. Anurse also appears and the Doctor presses the touch! button and signals the nurse toadmit the first patient in. Another patient is seen talking wildly with the nurse at thistime. "ut the nurse doesn’t allow him to come in.

    moment. I really can’t endure the pain any longer.

    &The nurse hesitates and obstructs his entry.'

    Dr. Ahmed% &notices the $atient'% *urse, it is okay. 0et him come inside.#nd $atient% Thank you, Doctor. &He hurries into the room.'

    Dr. Ahmed asks him to sit down on the stool.

    Dr.Ahmed % 1kay+ 1kay+ *ow Tell me what is the matter/

    #nd $atient% I feel terrible, doctor+ A severe pain in the stomach. 2. Too unbearable+

    Dr. Ahmed% Is it so painful/

    He then writes a prescription on a small piece of paper and gives it to the $atient.

    slowly and hesitates before the Doctor.

    The nurse smiles and goes out and the Doctor gets up and takes the patient to a place behind the screen.

    The scene opens in a large spacious room. The floors are lined with white flashingmarbles that one feels that a part of Ta9 ;ahal is fitted in this isolated place. The tableand chairs are most suited to the elegant style and taste of the modern elite society.In the doctor’s room, his name in bold letters, ("asheer, ;D, D HJ is displayed on thedoor. He, 8uite young, not above # years and e tremely handsome and fair is seated on achair. Two nurses are standing beside him. Then one nurse stands outside the room andcalls out to the patients who sit on the bench outside in the room.

    *oor Cahan, a young pretty tall girl in tight 9eans and a blouse, lays bare her fair arms andshoulders and comes forward.The doctor looks up and admires her beauty at first notice. He notices immediately thatshe does not belong here.

    The Attendants wheel a stretcher to the Theatre. 1n it lay a small boy, his head bleedingon all sides. A lot of an iety is seen on his parents who are running behind weepingloudly. Doctors, nurses are ready in the operation theatre. Dr. Albert comes forward onseeing the hopelessness on the faces of the Doctors. Dr. Albert then e amines theunconscious boy for thirty minutes. He gives an in9ection to stop the bleeding.

    Dr Albert% This is 8uite a complicated case. 6omething must be doneimmediately. 6ince internal bleeding can’t be ruled out, a ma9oroperation has to be performed now.

    The boy is laid upon the operating table and the nurses are ready with the operationapparatus. Dr. Ahmed, Dr. "asheer and Dr. 6hiny stand beside the table, immobile ofmovement, waiting and watching. 6uddenly Dr.Alberts changes into his operation clothesand strides into the room.

    He gives the boy a dose of anesthesia to keep him unconscious for at least twelve hours.Dr. Ahmed wonders at the ability of the Doctor to perform a ma9or operation in a placewhere they are lacking the most modern e8uipments.

    Dr. Albert % &To Dr. Ahmed' don’t lose hope. I have performed countlessnumber of operations like this but not in this condition. 0et us hope

    and pray. &Then he says to the other Doctors' ou all can stayoutside. I need the help of only the nurses to hand over the surgicalinstruments.

    Dr. Albert &To Dr. Ahmed'% Tell them not to worry. The operation issuccessful. The brain is unaffected. The patient must not bedisturbed for the ne t twenty!four hours. The patient is still in acoma. He will regain consciousness within one hour.

    Dr. Ahmed smiles at the parents.
