WHOLE GRAINS ACTIVITY SUGGESTIONS Elementary School Edition 2012 Geng kids excited about being a Champion for Change by eang whole grains! Who is this for? Kids and their parents Why is this a good idea? Whole grains are healthy for growing kids Name the Layer Name each layer of whole grains in the jar below. Can you guess all of them? Templates: Name the Layer acvity sheet. Geng Strong with Whole Grains Have students stand next to their desks or in an open space so they do not bump into each other. Assign one student to be Grain Boy/Girl. Explain that Grain Boy/Girl is going to ask the class some quesons about whole grains and lead them in some fitness acvies. Have Grain Boy/Girl choose one of the queson and acvity cards from the bag or box. Have Grain Boy/Girl read the queson and have the students answer. Aſter one of the students answers correctly, have Grain Boy/Girl lead the class in the listed acvity. The person that answers the queson correctly then becomes the new Grain Boy/Girl. Choose as many acvies as you wish. Vary the length of me of the acvies according to your classroom. You can also have the students make up their own rhymes and acvies. Getting Strong with Whole Grains Have students stand next to their desks or in an open space so they do not bump into each other. Assign one student to be Grain Boy/Girl.
