A Few AKC Yorkshire Terrier Statistics

From 1985, thru mid 2011 there have been approximately 596 people who owned a total of 883 Yorkies that went on to earn Companion event titles. Those 883 Yorkies earned a combined total of 3049 titles.

Since statistical information had not been kept in the early years, we are unable to determine when the fi rst Confor-mation Champion also earned a Companion title. How-ever going from information from 1985, 51 AKC Champi-ons earned 155 Companion Event titles.

In 1985, 41 Yorkies earned Obedience titles. In 2010 there were a total of 285 Companion titles earned by Yorkies, 172 titles earned in Agility, 20 in Obedience, 90 in Rally Obedience. Of those earning these titles, 3 were also Conformation Champions.

The youngest Yorkie to earn a Companion event title was just over 6 months old and earned a Rally Novice title. The oldest Yorkie to earn a Companion event title was 14.5 years old and earned a Novice Agility Preferred title. In fact many Yorkies go on to achieve titles well into their senior years. Yorkies after the age of 7 have earned 599 titles.

The current most titled Yorkie, has 38 Companion event titles, the 2nd has 35 Companion event titles and the 3rd has 25 Companion event titles.

Each Companion event has a Champion title, All Cham-pion titles are a prefi x to the dogs AKC registered name. In Obedience that title is OTCH, for Obedience Trial Champion, in Agility there are 2 titles, MACH, Masters Agility Champion & PACH, Preferred Agility Champion, Tracking has a CT, Champion Tracker. Since 1985 there have been 5 OTCH Yorkies, 28 MACH Yorkies and 2 PACH Yorkies. Many of those 28 MACH Yorkies have gone on to achieve more than one MACH, the highest number of MACH’s being 13. The MACH13 title was earned by a Yorkie that was 13.5 years old.

We are waiting for that fi rst Champion Tracker Yorkie, however there are 2 Yorkies that have earned Tracking Dog Excellence titles, which is no easy feat.
