INVOLVEMENT20 17 COMMUNITY

Aberdeen?s legendary m ascots, Ferrous and Ripcord , are beloved in the Upper Chesapeake region and have long been heralded for their work w ith in the com m unity. In 20 17, the legendary m ascots m ade m ore than 10 0 appearances at schools, com m unity events, business funct ions, Lit t le League baseball gam es, non-profit organizat ions and other com m unity out reach events.

The Club 's com m itm ent to giving back to the com m unity has been recognized both locally and regionally. 20 17 w as a record year as the IronBirds m ade m ore than 325 donat ions to Harford County-based non-profit organizat ions through fundraising and in-kind in it iat ives. In total, over $125,0 0 0 in cash or in-kind donat ions were p rovided .

The IronBirds never turn dow n a chance to help a non-profit in the com m unity. In 20 17, we worked hand-in-hand w ith three m ain non-profit organizat ions: RAACE (Race Against the Abuse of Child ren Everyw here), the Harford Pub lic Lib rary, and the Boys & Girls Club .

The IronBirds adopted RAACE as one of three charit ies to focus m uch of it s giving on during the 20 17 season. In add it ion to build ing and creat ing the new Ferrous & Friends Kids Zone presented by RAACE, IronBirds p layers wore RAACE branded uniform s for three gam es during the regular season.

The Harford County Pub lic Lib rary Foundat ion w as another one of the IronBirds? p referred charit ies during the season. Gam e-day t icket vouchers were handed out to ch ild ren in Cecil and Harford Count ies w ho com pleted the lib rary?s Sum m er Read ing Program . Alm ost 60 0 ch ild ren were aw arded a t icket to an IronBirds gam e w ith a total of m ore than 90 0 peop le at tend ing through the

p rogram . The lib rary?s sale of The Best Ticket Plan Ever! resulted in 10 % of revenues donated back to the organizat ion.

As the th ird IronBirds? charitab le partner in 20 17, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County were featured in p rom ot ions and at events all season long. The proceeds of the team ?s Star Wars jersey auct ion benefited the local organizat ion, and the club enjoyed com plim entary t ickets to gam es. Working w ith Planet Fitness, the IronBirds helped generate significant revenue through a st rikeout p rom ot ion. For every IronBirds p itcher w ho st ruck out an opposing bat ter, Planet Fitness donated $25 to Harford County Boys & Girls Club . In total, nearly $9,0 0 0 w as raised .
