May be awarded to any valedictorian or salutatorian who is a graduate of an accredited high school and has a minimum score of 24 on the ACT and a 3.50 cumulative, unweighted GPA. Amount: Up to $7,500. Restrictions: Full-time student status; Maintain a 3.50 cumulative GPA.

May be awarded to incoming freshmen who have a cumulative, unweighted GPA of 3.0 and a minimum of 30 on the ACT. Applicants must submit an essay explaining academic achievements and potential. Amount: Up to full tuition. Restrictions: Full-time status; Maintain a 3.50 cumulative GPA.

May be awarded to qualified students who have excelled in their previous academic work. The awards will be based on the Academic Scholarship Scale above. Restrictions: Maintain a 3.00 cumulative GPA. All awards are based on full-time enrollment and may be reduced to reflect part-time status.

Cumberland fields 21 men’s and women’s collegiate-level athletic teams, varying from bowling to volleyball. The Phoenix compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Mid-South Conference. With National Championships in baseball, tennis, and wrestling, along with multiple national and conference championship appearances in a variety of sports, our teams have proven they know how to win.

Success and hard work describe our student-athletes not only on the field, but in the classroom as well. Our student-athletes are graduating at record levels. Working with their coaches, student-athletes participate in team study halls, mandatory tutoring sessions, and mentoring, all the way to graduation. Following graduation, these student-athletes become active members in the community, continuing their ambassadorship for Cumberland University.
