George Bonnell was a failed newspaperman,

incompetent militia leader, and one time author who

arrived in Texas after the War for Independence and

briefly lived in Austin. Lieutenant Joseph Bonnell was

an officer in the Texas Army, friend of Sam Houston,

colleague of Albert Sidney Johnston, and a Hero of

the War for Texas Independence.
