Life Project Series Who is my Rabb? Class #24

Introduction

One of the questions of the grave is “Who is your Rabb?” While we are alive we need to find the answer in our life. We have the answer in the Quran as well as around us. When we look around us and even at ourselves we can find the answer “ Who is our Rabb?

Today we will study Ayat 54 in Surah Al-Anaam

Surah Al-Anaam - Ayah 54

In order to understand this Ayah we need to look at the previous Ayah 52 where Allah is telling the Prophet SAW to not turn or send away the believer (i.e. anyone who call and invoke Allah day and night). Then in Ayah 53 Allah is telling us that people are a test for each other and that Allah knows the one who is grateful to him

In Ayah 54 we are told how to deal with people who believe in Allah. Here those people are mentioned who invoke Allah in the morning and night.

Allah is reforming the Prophet SAW and teaching him how to respond to the people who believe in Allah’s Ayat when they come to the Prophet SAW

جآءك ذا means “when they come to you “ Here Allah is addressing the Prophet وإSAW.

Who will “come to you” ?

These are the people who believe in Allah’s Ayat. This is an honor that Allah is describing them like this.

ٱؤلذينيؤمنون These are the people who believe without any doubt.

نا ايـت ـ Here the B indicates attachment of the people with Allah’s Ayat. Na بindicates Allah’s Ayat.

Here the Ayat means the “signs of Allah”. Allah sent us signs that make us to believe. There are two types of signs of Allah.

Two signs of Allah

1. Universal signs from Allah:

The sun, moon, stars, mountains, lands, seas etc. are universal signs from Allah. This is a nurturing from Allah that He sent us the signs that help us to believe in Allah.

2. The Quran:

The Quran is the legislation. IT is a sign that tells us that we need to believe in Allah

Allah wants us to believe in His signs.

What should be the attitude when a believers comes to you

Allah tells the Prophet SAW to say ؤ ك ؤ ل ل م ـ ل ل (peace be upon you) to the believers when they come to him. Here Allah is telling us to give priority to the believers over the non-believers. This is a command from Allah to the Prophet SAW and to all the people who read the Quran.

This means when we speak to the believers we need to speak with peace (i.e. nothing wrong or false). We need to be extra careful when talking with the believer.

ؤ ك ؤ ل ل م ـ ل ل means when a believer comes to us we need to do the following:

1. Be really good with them2. Be welcoming towards them3. Showing appreciation to them4. Encouraging them.5. Showing our love towards them

6. Speak with the best of the words with them

When we speak with the believer we need to be extra careful with the words and choose only the best words as the Shaitaan is waiting for an opportunity. We should either say the good or keep silent.

When we say ؤ ك ؤ ل ل م ـ ل ل it is by itself a mercy. Allah is reforming us by teaching us to show compassion, love and mercy.

Raboobiyat is how Allah deals with his servants. In this Ayah, Allah is telling us that His nurturing and reforming is full of mercy.

Actions of Allah:

.”means “prescribed كتب

ؤ ك ك ل means “The Nurturer” and “The Reformer”

حمة ٱؤلر means “The Mercy”. This includes all the different types of Mercy. This is complete mercy. Allah is The Most Merciful and The Most Compassionate.

Allah prescribed the mercy upon himself. Here we are told Our Reformer, Our Nurturer made The Mercy obligatory on himself. This means no one is merciful except Allah and anyone having mercy is from Allah.

5

حمة لر ه علىنفس ؤٱؤكتبربكم ؤ

How do we see Allah’s mercy ?

If one of us commit a sin and do wrong due to evil or ignorance then he repents and he reforms himself (i.e. fix what he did wrong) then Allah will forgive his sins, as He is the Most Merciful and the Most Forgiving.

We need to have faith in Allah’s mercy and attach ourselves to Allah’s mercy.
