“Cheese”- A metaphor for what we want to have in life, Whether it is a job, a relationship, spiritual peace, freedom, recognition, or an activity like gym.

Each of us has our own idea of what cheese is, and we pursue it because we believe it makes us happy. If we get it, we often become attached to it .and if we lose

it, or it’s taken away, it can be traumatic.

Once upon a time….Four little characters who ran through a maze looking for cheese to nourish them and make them happy.

Four Imaginary Characters • The Mice • Sniff and Scurry

The little people(two being as small as mice with complex brain like us)• The people • Hem and Haw

Having Cheese Makes You Happy.(Cheese Station “C” )

Sniff and Scurry• The mice used the simple trail-

and- error method to find cheese.• They got lost, as you might

expect, went off in the wrong direction and often bumped into walls. But found their way.

Hem and Haw• Like the mice, the little people

also tried to find their way from their past experience.• However, they relied on their

complex brains to develop more sophisticated method of finding Cheese.

but finding cheese.• They found Cheese Station ‘N’.

Hem and Haw

• Meantime they were evaluating situation in cheese station ‘C’.• Haw saw new images of finding

new cheese. Lets Go ! He said.• Hem responded NO!. “I am

Haw’s Wisdom• Hem and Haw returned with

chisel and hammer, banged on the wall until they made hole into the wall.

• Finally, one day Haw began laughing at himself.

• He painted a picture in his mind. Venturing into the maze.

As he prepared to leave he felt • More alive• Haw laughed and announced, its

a Maze Time…

Smell the Cheese often So You Know When It Is Getting Old.• Haw realized if he had been

watching what was happening all long and if he Anticipated Change.• Now he would sense change and

adapt.

Page 13: Who moved my cheese by Dr. Spencer Johnson

When You Stop Being Afraid You Feel Good!• Haw was loosing his Physical strength.• Maze was full of danger and yet he took it as an adventure.• He started to enjoy himself in the maze more and more.“ Why do I feel so good?” he wondered. “I don’t have any cheese and I don’t know where I am going.”• Haw realized he had held captive by his Own fear.

The Quicker You Let Go Of Old Cheese, The Sooner You find New Cheese.• After a while haw made his way to cheese station ‘C’ and found Hem.

He offered him some cheese but Hem declined he was more attached to the Old cheese. “I Want My Cheese Back.”

It Is Safer To Search In The Maze, Than Remain In A Cheeseless SituationThe fear you let build up in your mind

is worse than the situation that actually exists

Page 16: Who moved my cheese by Dr. Spencer Johnson

Old Beliefs Do Not Lead You To New Cheese.• Haw now Realized That his new beliefs were encouraging new

behaviours.• New Cheese will help you and embrace the change.• It all depends on what you choose to believe.

Noticing Small Changes Early helps You Adapt To The Bigger Changes That Are to Come.(Finding Cheese Station “N”)

• By Now Haw Had Let Go Past.• He continued on through the maze with greater Strength and Speed.• He Found a New Cheese Station Cheese Station ‘N’!• Bigger Better Pilled High everywhere was greatest Supply.• He Found both his friends Sniff and Scurry.

Page 18: Who moved my cheese by Dr. Spencer Johnson

He realized the fastest way to change is to laugh at your own folly-then you can let go and quickly move on.

While Haw still had a great supply of cheese, he often went out into the maze to explore new

area and to stay in touch with what was happening around him.
