XCRI-CAP ...

| slide 3

XCRI started in 2005 (Bottom Up approach)

XCRI-CAP taken forward for standardisation and piloting

2011 XCRI-CAP at a level of maturity for implementation of the standard

A XCRI-CAP record could be created for any type of course or module

HEAR ...

| slide 4

HEAR started in 2003 (Bottom Up approach?)

In 2007, Universities UK and GuildHE published Beyond the honours degree classification: the Burgess Group final report.

JISC created XML schema as extension of XCRI-CAP XML schema, Diploma Supplement compliant

Records a student’s achievement in HE and provides more detailed information about a student’s learning and achievement than the traditional degree classification system.

HEA now supporting further implementation

Section 6.1 includes: academic work, extra-curricular activities, prizes and employability awards and voluntary work and offices held in student union clubs and societies

The KIS

| slide 6

There will be a KIS for all UG courses (including part-time) planned for 2013-14, on which students at HEIs are registered, or which are run through private providers who subscribe to the QAA for HE

UG programmes taught through FE colleges will also require a KIS.

The only exceptions are short courses (one year full-time equivalent or less), postgraduate courses, those delivered wholly overseas, and closed courses.
