In ancient times, a king hada boulder placed on a road-

way. Then he hid himself andwatched to see if anyone wouldremove the huge rock. Some ofthe kings wealthiest merchantsand courtiers came by and sim-ply walked around it.

Many loudly blamed the king fornot keeping the roads clear, butnone did anything about gettingthe big stone out of the way. Thena peasant came along carrying aload of vegetables. On approach-

ing the boulder, the peasant laiddown his burden and tried to

move the stone to the side of theroad. After much pushing andstraining, he finally succeeded.As the peasant picked up hisload of vegetables, he noticed apurse lying in the road wherethe boulder had been. Thepurse contained many goldcoins and a note from theking indicating thatthe gold was for theperson who removedthe boulder from the roadway.

The peasant learned what manyothers never understand.

Every obstacle presentsan opportunity to im-prove ones condition.
