Snowboard

History Snowboarding began 1965 when Sherman Pop-pen invented a toy for his daughter. He attached two skis together and attached a rope at one end so she could control it when she stood on it. He na-med it the Snurfer coos he combined surfing and snow. The toy became popular among he’s daugh-ters friends. Later he toke a license to the snurfer and sold almost a million snurfers the next year. Around 1970 the Snurfer was popular in the hole world. 1979 was the first Snurfing world cup in Michigan.

JibbingJibbing comes from skateboarding at first its used when you grind on metal rails. Snowboarders star-ted using it when they also grinded on metal rails and riding on boxes and wall rides and drop from heights. Now the word jibbing comes when you see a guy in the slope ho has baggy clothes ho are often in the snowboard park.

Free-ridingFree riding is the most common styles in snow-boarding and its very accessible. Free riding is when you go ofpist, jump och jumps, grinding and almost everything in snowboarding you can do. A free rider often goes out in the city and find spots there they ride on rails, wall rides, banks and jumps. Jibbing is olso a part in free riding but not everything that they do in jibbing. Free riding is also called all-mountain snowboarding. In free riding you need a medium stiff board ho could ride at all the types of snow such as ice and deep powder.

FreestyleIn freestyle the rider goes in a prebuilt park ho includes rails, boxes, jumps, wallrides and maybe a half-pipe or a courter-pipe. The equipment in free-style is a very light felx board and a soft boot. The board they use is often shorter than usual.

Big airBig air is not a specific style it’s a competition when you jump on a very big jump an perform tricks in the air like spins, grabs and flips. The rules are that you perform the best trick and do it cleanest you win.

Half-pipeA half-pipe is a half pipe made of snow that you go from one side to the other and perform tricks while you are in the air. And when you do a bunch of tricks one after an other its called a trick-line. The half-pipe competition is when you do the best and cleanest trick-line and you win.

Rail jamRail jam is a competition there you gonna do the best trick on a rail, box, pipe an meny other featu-res. Often you got like two ore three choises when you compete like if they have one box one metal-rail and one surface that’s made of plastic that you can spin on.If you perform the best rail trick or trick-line you win.

History of Slopestyle and Freestyle Ski-ing from the Start!

It all started out as freestyle, formed by stein Eriksen in 1962 and developed in 1970s. You do not compete in freestyle but you do it more for your self and have fun with your friends in the parks all over the world. When you freestyle you do acrobatic moves and rail.

The newschool freestyle is more ag-gressive because you can make even crazier tricks than before, since you can go both frontwards and backwards with the new ”Twin tip” skiis, which means that both sides are tipped up. So when you do a 540 you can either do it as a backside 540 or a frontside. If you would do a backside trick and land it perfectly in a competition you would get higher score.

The more useful term of use when it comes to freestyle is ”Jibbing” the people out in the parks don’t use the term freestyle, they say jibb/jibbing, I haven’t heard the term freestyle in a long time.

Slopestyle is the competitive style of freestyle, you are using the same tricks and rails, so if you want to become a pro skiier you have to start in the regu-lar parks and join a low ranked com-petition and there you can find a spon-sor if you win.

The biggest competition in winter X-Games is slopestyle for skiiers. Slopestyle competitions take place world-wide in different countries for slopestyle skiiers. Winter X-Games were held at Mountain Resort in Big Bear Lake, California for the first time in 1997. Recently slopestyle have been approved for the Olympics in 2014.

When you ride slopestyle in a competi-tion there are four categories when it comes to tricks, Spins, grabs, grinds and flips. The greatest spin a skiier has done is in the big jump competition which is a 1620 spin, this is four and a half rotation, and done by TJ Schiller.

Rails could be in all shapes and sizes, long straight ones or rainbow shaped ones. Rails must be cared for intensively, so they must be waxed so that the skier/snowboarder does not get stuck and fall when they hit the rail.

The jumps that appear in a slopesyle course are big or small, it’s just the way they want it to be. The jumps are from 20 to 80 feet long, this calculation is ta-ken from the end to the start of the jump. The jumps are accurately calculated, they need to know exactly the speed that they gain from start till they get to the jump, if they get too low speed they might not succeed the jump.

In Stockholm there are not so good parks

Inlines is a skating boot. This means that it has wheels under the actual boot. They are used for inli-ne skating and should not be used in a park. The dif-ference between inlines and aggressive skates (which is a smaller version) is that the Inline version has 4 to 5 wheels on it. This makes it larger and much harder to handle in a skating park. The aggressive skates have in the most common cases two wheels in the front and 2 wheels in the back. What makes it different from the Inline shoe is that it has a space between the front and back wheels. This makes you able to rail. The aggressive skates are also very tiny compared to the regular Inlines. It makes it easier to handle when jumping and railing. But the wheels on these skates are very tiny also which makes it slower to skate. If you’re after the kinds of skating boots that you can travel with and want a high speed, you should pick inlines. There are many different types of Inlines and your choice depends, on how seriously you want to take it. But it’s more depending on how serious you want to take it. The bigger wheels and length apart, the faster you can go. But if you’re in a big city, just looking for some fun, you should choose the regular version which is not much more than a boot with four to five wheels in normal size. Because the aggressive skates are not built for high speed or long distance travelling. There aren’t any brakes on them. The brakes are commonly put on the back of the boot, but in most cases they are re-moved from the Inlines because it in some cases they can be in the way. Also if you want to have the high speed you should probably learn how to slow down your movement without using the brakes, be-cause it might sometimes make it difficult for you to keep your balance. For the beginners, the boots of the inlines are often very soft. It’s because the boot is not supposed to hurt your feets. An untrained beginner can expe-rience pain from a hard boot. Once your ankle has had the support a soft boot can give it, then it’s time for a harder boot. The harder boots are used for a

more stable balance. The aggressive skates use 44-59 mm wheels. They are smaller than the artistic inline wheels. These can be from 68 – 72 mm. The more you use your skates, the more you will notice that your wheels ain’t spinning like the first time you tried out your skates. This is because the wheels are collecting dirt. Just like any other kind of wheels they have to be replaced once in a while. Or just up plastered. Also it’s extremely important especially for a kid to wear armor. One down fall which can hap-pen to anyone, can hurt you very deeply and might even break your bones. So when you’re out ska-ting, having fun in the park, or just travelling, be sure to wear a helmet.

Motorcross freestyle

In 1924, the first known British off-road event known as the Scrambles was held at Camberley in Surrey. The sport’s popularity would increase during the 1930s, particularly in Bri-tain where events involving teams from various districts and companies would be held regularly. Bikes used in those competitions at the time would be barely distinguishable from those used on the streets.1950 to 1970As the competition intensified and the terrain increased in difficulty, the technology used for the design of competition and special-event mo-torcycles would improve, particularly with the introduction of the swing-ing arm suspension during the early 1950s.Various companies throughout Eu-rope from countries such as Sweden, Czechoslovakia and Britain thrived by creating models that became renowned for their lightness and maneuverability. The introduced im-provements in motorcycles during the 1960s would relegate the older and heavier four-stroke machines to smaller, niche events. They did diffe-

rents of bikes like 500cc and 250cc, they are for driffrents events and terrains. There are many of differents terrains, like in the forest, in light sand, muddy dirt and on normal tracks and indoor tracks.1980s to 1990sDuring the 1990s, new laws were intro-duced to ensure that the production of four-stroke motorcycles would adhere to environmentally conscious standards.

Motorcross Today: Recently, motocross has gradually developed new forms of ri-ding and disciplines ranging from indoor stadium arena events such as Supercross and Arenacross to Freestyle Motocross where riders display an array of skills while performing thrilling jumps and stunts.

Le Parkour

Parkour is a sport which is quite unk-nown. In Parkour the main objective is to move from point A to point B as fast as possible. You do this by jumping over ob-stacles and climbing walls. It´s a sport for everyone. The only thing you really need is one pair of shoes and a fit body.

Parkour is a movement philosophy that was developed in France during the 1900 century. It’s hard to tell what parkour really is. Some say it’s a sport, some say it’s a hobby and some even say that it´s a phi-losophy. Basically parkour is about lear-ning how to navigate around obstacles and reinvent how to move in public places. Many of those who practice parkour uses the skills they achieve from parkour in their every day life. The art about parkour is to move from one place to another as effective as possible. In theory is parkour about moving around obstacles in a case if emergency. Training in parkour allows people to analyse the obstacles on an individual basis and deci-de the best way to get around them, based on barriers, physical ability’s and situation. There is an emphasis on smooth, flexible movements and sometimes training in-cludes instruction in martial arts. Many movies are made about parkour, and be-cause of that some traceurs have expres-sed dissatisfaction with the integration of sports, especially because parkour can be

dangerous when practiced by someone who had not received proper training. The art of flying leaps, jumps and other physically demanding movements can look very showy, but also potentially dangerous. If you are interested to see parkour in action many major cities have teams participating in regular demonstra-tions. These groups also offer train-ing in parkour to people who are in-terested in learning more about the sport. parkour is a truly innovative and sometimes very funny way to be ac-tive and transform your relationship to your body and space around you to just more then space, it can also be a workout space. Why go jogging in the streets, for example, when you can na-vigate an obstacle course own design through public places?

So if you are having a boring day, and you don’t know what to do, you just have to put on some good shoes and get out with some friends. One of my own favourites to do when I’m training parkour is to jump over small fences as fast as possible. So what are you waiting for? Get your lazy ass out there!
