Transcript of White Simple Photo Annual Report
Dear Friends in Christ,
As your bishop, it is my responsibility to ensure that an account of the Annual Financial Report is presented to thefaithful of the Diocese of Stockton. With the advisory role and commitment of my Diocesan Finance Council, and with theprudent stewardship, responsible fiscal management and transparency of my financial management team, we haveprepared a thorough report for your review. Although we were faced with a challenging year, due to the Coronaviruspandemic, we at the Pastoral Center have continued to serve you in your parish communities.
The Diocesan Pastoral Center strives to work As One with the pastors and the parishes in order to provide administrativeassistance in the areas of finance, human resources, legal concerns, development, information technology andcommunications. Through your generosity, the departments of the Pastoral Center supplies parishes with administrativesupport in the area of Catholic education, catechesis, life and dignity, marriage and family life, along with training in thearea of pastoral leadership and parish ministry.
Your financial contributions have assisted with ongoing spiritual and educational formation for our dedicated clergy, notto mention, the necessary financial support for the education and formation of our seminarians. All of this has enabledus, as the Diocese of Stockton, to respond to the call to discipleship and to proclaim, and uphold, the mission of Church -evangelization!
As we move forward, as a diocese, I am most grateful to you for your generous support of the Annual Bishop’s MinistryAppeal and for your parish offertory contributions. Some of the annual parish collections enable our churches, includingthe collection for Catholic Charities, to draw our attention to addressing the social needs of our parish communities.
Within the year, opportunities are given to parishioners to raise their awareness and look beyond the local needs oftheir parishes. This is accomplished through the annual national and international offertory collections. These specialcontributions assist in reminding us of “the bigger picture” of which we are a part - the Universal Church.
My friends, all of this, and much more, is only possible when we, as the Christian community work together in unity, AsOne. As God has called and blessed me to lead this diocese, I want to express that it is a joy to serve you as a coworkerand as your bishop. I am sincerely grateful for your support. Let us never forget that in the midst of it all, it is Jesus wholeads us as a people, as a diocese!
In the Peace of Christ,
Myron J. Cotta
