Information about the condition is limited and our knowledge still developing due to the extremely small number of cases. It has occurred in patients who have tested positive and in some cases tested negative for COVID-19. The condition is caused by the body’s response to fighting infection but this response can cause many symptoms due to significant levels of inflammation in multiple parts of the body.
