Applicants applying for CWO are required to be at least a chief petty officer and have completed at least 12 years, but no more than 24 years of active duty service before applying to the program.
Limited duty officers are technical managers who perform duties limited to specific occupational fields. Chief warrant officers are technical spe-cialists who perform duties requiring extensive knowledge and skills of a specific occupational field at a level beyond what are normally expected of a master chief petty officer.
Jones and Allen emphasized the importance of maintaining an accu-rate service record, gave tips on things that would strengthen an applicant’s chance of being selected, and told
the audience to remain persistent when submitting a package. They also stressed the importance of having a good mentor to help you along the process and to be worldwide assign-able and ready for absolutely any-thing.
“The presentation on the programs was outstanding,” said Cmdr. David Latosky, CNATTU commanding offi-cer. “I’m confident that the applicants who sat through this brief are cer-tainly more knowledgeable about the selection process and the opportunity this awesome program offers them and the Navy.”
For more information about the LDO/CWO programs, reference OPNAVINST 1420.1A and contact your command career counselor.
