MODULE 1 DEVELOPING SELF AND OTHERS This module will enable participants to improve individual and team performance to meet the needs of the organisation. Improvement in individual and team capability starts with each person having self- awareness and a clear understanding of their impact on others. The module will provide participants with the opportunity to complete a personal skills audit, assess their own preference for learning and those of their team, identifying development needs and create a personal development plan.

MODULE 2 LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT IN THE ROADS SECTOR The aim of this module is to develop an introductory knowledge and understanding of management practice, with a specific focus on the task of leadership. It will seek to assess the learner’s own management role requirements and their perspective on leadership in the Roads Sector. Participants will be required to identify factors

that influence their choice of leadership style or behaviour in workplace situations and the effect this has on motivation and commitment of those working with them.

MODULE 3 MANAGING TEAM PERFORMANCE This module is designed to help participants develop their skills in understanding, managing and facilitating the performance of teams. It introduces participants to up-to-date studies on leading high performing teams, motivation, performance management, feedback and rewards, and explores the challenges of building teams, managing project teams and resolving team conflict to move towards engagement and sustained excellence in performance. The module explores these issues and approaches through practical examples from the day-to-day operations of companies and the challenges leaders face in delivering results in line with the organisation’s strategic business objectives.

MODULE 4 ENHANCING COLLABORATION This module will explore ways to conceptualise, manage and enhance inter-organisational collaborative networks, alliances and knowledge sharing. Participants will develop an understanding of strategic and non-financial factors that may influence investment decisions, while applying this to their own practice.

MODULE 4 STRATEGY AND PLANNING IN THE ROADS SECTOR The module is designed to provide participants with a holistic view of the organisation’s strategic position and the importance of strategic decisions at all levels of the organisation. Strategic issues cut across the functional boundaries of business organisations and require multi-disciplinary skills in developing and implementing solutions. Strategy and planning will be considered in relation to organisational context.

‘MAKING IT DIFFERENT’. Participants should come prepared to live their learning in a safe, supportive yet challenging environment. With a diverse and varied approach to learning including coaching, action learning sets, simulation and gaming technology this programme will encompass a number of experiential activities.
