The impact of poor nutrition early in life has a profound affect on a child’s growth. It is critical that children receive proper nutrition to establish the foundation of their lifelong health. Access to good nutrition is a guaranteed foundation for the optimal growth and development of every child, and also strengthens the body’s resistance to illness. As poverty remains a harsh reality for many families across the Republic of Armenia, the Armenian Children’s Milk Fund (ACMF) remains committed to continue giving Armenia’s most vulnerable citizens a healthy start to life. Understanding there are many circumstances that pre-vent a mother from breastfeeding, the ACMF distributes infant formula as an alternative in eight cities from five ACMF Cen-ters which are part of the Armenian Missionary Association of America’s (AMAA) centers and offices in Armenia and Artsakh. Purchasing formula can quickly become a financial hardship and the ACMF is committed to help ease this burden by providing monthly allotments, or on an as-needed basis, to 540 babies a year. With the support of caring members, such as you, the AMAA can sustain this special Program, and continue giving a gift of love to help build a strong and lasting foundation for the little children.

TWINS!The AMAA’s Health Center Doctor read about this family on a Facebook page, and requested that the AMAA take the twin baby boys into the Armenian Children’s Milk Fund Program.

Armen, the father, was born in 1971 in Yerevan. After graduating from the Engineering University, he entered the military in Artsakh. During his service, Armen was injured from a bombing and became handicapped. In 2010, Armen met his future wife Naira and their marriage was a happy turning point in their lives. For 6 years they were unable to have children due to health complications. In 2016, through medical advances, Naira gave birth to twin boys, Martin and Mark. However, tragically, Naira died during childbirth, leaving the twin’s care to their handicapped father and retired grandmother. Armen and the twins live with his mother in a small apartment, which needs renovation. His income is not enough to care for the twin’s needs. Through the assistance of the ACMF, the twins are receiving infant formula and the family is receiving additional support from the AMAA Center.
