The pages below excerpt the value-based questions appearing in some of the Class XII (school final year) national-board examination papers of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). In some instances the CBSE website gives model answersfor these papers where those are available the corresponding model answer for the value-based question is also given. The papers chosen in this document are of core subjects where value-based questions are most awkwardly accommodated: Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Business Study, Accountancy, History, Geography. Some question papers have such a density of value-based questions that they are worth contemplating as a whole. So, alongside this document of extracts from question papers, the English (Core) and Philosophy Class XII 2013 papers are attached in full. The Philosophy question paper, in particular, seems to have an implicit philosophy of education which students are expected to subscribe to. The set textbooks for these need to be consulted to obtain a full sense of what is called for from students; but simply examining these papers and the value-based questions below enables a reasonable sense of how the CBSE programme is implementing value education. Similar questions are found in the CBSE Class X national board examination question papers for these subjects.

Philosophy question paper, in particular, seems to have an implicit

philosophy of education which students are expected to subscribe

to. The set textbooks for these need to be consulted to obtain a full

sense of what is called for from students; but simply examining

these papers and the value-based questions below enables a

reasonable sense of how the CBSE programme is implementing
