How to play the game

B Game 1: Find the picture.

Find a partner. Cut out the cards and put them together: The text is on one side, the picture is on the other side. Put the map of Great Britain with the pictures on the table (Map 1).

Each player gets 16 cards. Put your cards in a pile and hold them in your hand so that you can read the text on the first card, but your partner can’t see the picture on the other side.

Partner A: Read the text on your first card to your partner. Don’t show her or him the picture!Partner B: Find the right picture on the map. Partner A: Look at the back of your card. Is it the right picture? Then B gets the card. Is it wrong? Put the card back in the pile. B can try again later. Now B reads the text on her or his first card and A finds the picture on the map.

Who has 16 cards first?

C Game 2: Who’s the fastest?

Make groups of three students. Put the map without the pictures (Map 2) on the table. Cut out the cards so that every text is a card and every picture is a card. Put the picture cards on the table so that you can see the pictures. Put the text cards in a pile.

Partner A: Take a text card from the pile and read it. Partner B and C: Find the right picture and put it in the right place on the map. Who’s the fastest?Partner A: Have a look at the map with the pictures (Map 1). Is it the right picture and is it in the right place? Then the student (B or C) gets the two cards (text and picture). Now this student reads the next text to her or his partners. Is it wrong? Then the other student can find the right picture and read the next text.

Who has the most cards in the end?

B Game 3: Find pairs.

Find a partner. Cut out the cards so that every text is a card and every picture is a card. Put all the cards on the table so that you can’t see the texts or pictures.

Partner A: Take two cards, turn them round and look at the texts or pictures. Do they match? Then you can keep them and take another two cards. If not, turn them round again. Partner B: It’s your turn now!

Who has the most pairs in the end?
