Finding & Overcoming Resistance
Why do people resist?
What does “resistance” look like?
How can you avoid “resistance”, or manage it, if it
does occur?
What are the secret techniques and critical success
factors for getting buy-in?
No matter how much effort is put into defining proven
processes supported by state-of-the-art tools, our plans
will collapse like a house of cards if we don’t capture the
hearts and minds of people.

The Eight Stages Of Successful Large-Scale Change Efforts
1) Create a sense of urgency among all the relevant people.
2) Pull together powerful enough teams of people, guiding teams,
who have the credibility, leadership skills, connections, reputations,
and formal authority required to drive needed change.
3) Encourage the driving team to create sensible, clear, simple,
uplifting, specific-to-the-situation vision and strategies.
4) Communicate the vision and strategies via simple, heartfelt
messages sent through many unclogged channels, with additional
information coming through symbols and deeds.
5) Provide a heavy dose of empowerment, particularly where key
obstacles may stop us from acting on the vision.
6) Produce short-term wins, which provide
credibility, resources, and momentum to the overall
effort.
7) Build on the first wins by consolidating the early
changes and create more change.
8) Make sure that any transformation sticks by
consistency of behavior and policy over a sufficient
period of time. Leading Change John Kotter
