From the Relieving Principal: Staff I would like to say a huge thank you to the hardworking staff of MPS for their dedication and support of our students, your children. They often go above and beyond in order to provide students with fantastic learning experiences, as well as, giving up their own time to provide students with extra-curricular opportunities.
Students have had wonderful sporting and cultural opportunities this semester due to our teachers and support staff going that extra-mile. All staff put the best interests of our students first and they constantly encourage every child to do their personal best. It’s now time for them to put themselves and their families first, have a good rest, ready for another semester of learning. Staff will return to school on Monday 12th July, which is a staff development day. Students return to school on Tuesday 13th July. I hope all of our families enjoy some quality family time over the two week break and take time to rest and recharge your batteries for another busy semester.
Muswellbrook High School Roadshow What an honour it was to watch the Muswellbrook HS band, singers, dancers, drama students and backstage crew perform last Tuesday. The talent displayed in all areas was amazing and it was so rewarding to see so many of our ex-students in action. I would like to publicly thank MHS staff, students and Dana Hogan, for offering to showcase this performance, a performance highly valued by all local schools!
Athletics Carnival Well done to all who competed and supported our athletics carnival held last week. They were 2 fantastic days where our wonderful students got to show off there many talents. Congratulations to all participants and good luck to all

students who will represent our school at the Zone carnival next term. A big thankyou to Miss Hayter and Mrs Douglas who put in countless hours in order to make sure the days ran smoothly and all events were completed.
Fund Raising. A big THANKYOU to our wonderful school community who have supported two very important charities over the past week. We have raised important funds for the Heart Foundation and the Mark Hughes Foundation.
Our Jump Rope For Heart fund raising effort was once again fantastic, we raised over $6000.
Our Treat Day in support of the Mark Hughes Foundation, Beanies For Brain Cancer, raised just over $1200.
THANK YOU for all your kind donations.
Biggest Morning Tea This Friday our staff will be supporting the Cancer Council through the Biggest Morning Tea. Despite your incredibly busy schedules, you still find time to think of others! Thank you Mrs Lambert for organising this event.
School Reports School reports for semester one were sent home yesterday. If you wish to touch base with your child's teacher to discuss your child’s report, please contact the office to make a mutually convenient appointment. The school’s contact details are shown above.

Athletic Carnivals In week 9, Students 8 years and above attended our 2021 athletics carnivals. Throughout the two days of
competition each student participated with sportsmanship and a ‘have a go’ attitude. Many events came down to
the wire with only seconds and centimetres separating each place.
Well done to the winning house….. Victoria! Closely followed by Highbrook, Bowman and then Karoola.
Thank you to all parents and spectators for supporting our school community, as well as, following the COVID-19
guidelines. Sporting events are so much more exciting when students have their families in attendance and
cheering them on.
Congratulations to the following students who placed in the top 3 for their age group. Please note that each track
event was a timed heat, there were no finals.

Thank you to the Old Tea House for providing our school community with hot food and drinks. Thank you also to
our school canteen for providing lunch and treats to our students.
A HUGE thank you must go to our amazing staff for their continued support and dedication towards our students.
Without their help, this carnival would not be successful.
Our school carnivals are now completed for 2021. It has been a pleasure to have these events back after having
to cancel/modify them in 2020. Students who have made it to Zone will receive their permission notes and all
relevant information next term.
Thank you,
Miss Hayter and Mrs Douglas

Our gates will continue to be locked between 9.15am and 3.15pm as this is a safety requirement and access during school hours will continue to be through the front gate.
Pick up and drop off routines will remain the same, with access to front, bottom and back gates continuing. If you are happy to pick up and drop off outside the gates, we encourage you to continue this routine and support your child’s independence.
If you are entering school grounds, we ask parents/carers to please maintain a distance from each other and staff and not congregate in walkways and high traffic areas as our students exit the gates and get onto buses.
As we continue to maintain regular COVID-19 cleaning throughout the day, parents and carers are asked to refrain from sitting on school seating to help maintain our safety procedures.
Please ensure you follow the directions of staff if requested. We are all trying our best to continue to keep our students, staff and school community safe. More information will be given out as it comes to hand.

PSSA Touch Boys
On Monday, our Senior Boys Touch Team had a very enjoyable time visiting Muswellbrook South PS for our first game. I was so impressed by the incredible effort and enthusiasm that all of the boys displayed. Not only did everyone play very well, but they also all showed fantastic sportsmanship. It was a competitive game, but we were successful in winning, with the final score finishing at 10-5. Well done, and congratulations to all of our team! We are now looking forward to playing our next game in Term 3.
