19 July 2014 – April 2015I Spy… NatureExperience how scientists’ observations lead to new discoveries. A hands-on, family-friendly exhibition where you can try observing and recording nature. Discover how insects view nature differently, or get up close with natural history objects under the microscope.
2 August – 15 FebruaryThe Welsh and the WarPortraits of people – soldiers, sailors, politicians and families – whose lives were transformed by the First World War.
2 August – 4 JanuaryNational Memory – Local StoriesThis creative project engages young people and artists with items from the museum’s collection relating to the First World War. Funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.
2 August – 4 JanuaryEfforts and Ideals: Prints of the First World War66 lithographs from 1917 commissioned by the Ministry of Information, providing a fascinating representation of Britain’s war objectives, military activities and effort on the Home Front, including work by Augustus John, Frank Brangwyn, William Rothenstein and C.R.W. Nevinson.

art form, creating unique, experimental pieces that he considered as works of sculpture.
24 January – 19 AprilHistoric Photography UncoveredThis exhibition traces the evolution of photography, as a scientific process, social record and a medium for artistic expression. Funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.
24 October – 22 FebruaryArtes Mundi 6This major international contemporary art exhibition and the UK’s biggest art prize, returns to the city.
