1. Current InCites Dataset – September 2015 InCites 2.0 is built on a single dataset source from the Web of Science™ Core Collection, aggregated by the Research Analytics Integrated Metrics System, and optimized in the InCites Dataset. Integration across the Research Analytics platform means the indicators from Essential Science IndicatorsSM, Journal Citation Reports®, Institution Profiles and all InCites 1.0 modules come together in one dataset - explorable in InCites 2.0 Institutional Registry/WAAN address unification system supplies organization data to InCites improving accuracy and ease of use. 2. Analyze custom datasets created from Web of Science Core Collection

1. Create Any Search in Web of Science Core Collection

2. Export up to 50,000 records instantly

3. Analyze in InCites

The ‘Exporting Web of Science data to InCites’ functionality allows users to analyze custom datasets created in Web of Science Core Collection in InCites platform linking scientific discovery to research performance evaluation process in three simple steps; Search, Export, Analyze.

The user can create any dataset up to 50,000 records between 1980-2015 in Web of Science Core Collection and save them to InCites.

Any records indexed in Web of Science Core Collection but not yet updated in InCites, are stored and made available in the next update of InCites.

The users receive an email when their datasets have been saved to InCites. Currently, users can store up to five datasets at a time in InCites and can delete any unused datasets from ‘My Folders’.

3. Inclusion of Baselines in exported records

1. Create a Baseline in

Benchmarks

2. All Baselines are exportable in cvs format

InCites Benchmarks & Baselines are now included as part of the exported information.

Clicking on the Export icon allows you to download directly to your desktop the data contained in the results table for the particular view of the Explorer you are working in or within the Documents List View. Supply a name for your file and the number of records you wish to include by either directly entering the number or using the directional arrows. Click Export to complete the task. The file will download to your computer.

as of the InCites 2.11 release.

4. Filter Results by Funder

InCites users can filter results by Funder in order to identify and rank authors, institutions or countries that have been funded by a particular institution or rank journals and research areas in which funded output has been published. All funding agency names are captured for all Science Citation Index Expanded records from 2008-present. Full funding text can be viewed in the Web of Science full record. Even though funding agency names are not standardized in the current version of InCites, Thomson Reuters is working towards the unification of funding agencies’ names in collaboration with funding bodies worldwide.

5. Filter Results by Open Access

Tick the Open Access

Filter

InCites users can filter results by Open Access publications to analyze the performance of output published in Open Access journals by ticking the Open Access box. In order to be tagged as Open Access, a journal must be a fully gold title covered in the Directory of Open Access Journals (http://doaj.org/). Open Access content in InCites and Web of Science Core Collection consists of records from these journals only. Currently InCites and Web of Science Core Collection index more than 1,300 high impact Open Access journals.

6. Export year-by-year data utilizing the Trend Data feature

1. Tick on Trend Data when Exporting

Results2. Exported Trend Data in

CSV file

InCites also allows for exporting year- by - year data for up to 251 records in your results table in the form of Trend Data. Simply select the number of records you wish to export and check the button for Trend Data. Your exported .csv file will include data for your chosen results for each

year in the range you set in the Time Period filter.

10

7. Include multiple results in your Filters

Capture each variant of a

name by adding

multiple filter values to

your results

InCites allows you to select multiple entries in order to perform a more comprehensive assessment. For example, a researcher might publish under multiple name variations. Including each name variant in your results helps to optimize the picture of that person and perform a more thorough assessment of research output.

Simply click on each entry in the results that appear in the filter to include that instance.

9. Expand the number of columns for tiles on the Dashboard

The Dashboard provides you with a fresh canvas on which to arrange and present the tiles you have created in order to organize the information most relevant to you. By arranging tiles you can tell a single story or create a report that captures the scope of your analysis. Change the order of your tiles by simply clicking Edit, and drag and drop to your preference. You can

also expand the number of columns in the layout by clicking the icon, and choose between 2, 3, 4, and 5 columns.

Tiles can be sent to the Dashboard from both InCites System Reports and the Explorer.

Click the icon on any tile to see the information that sits behind it. From the options that appear, View Data to return to that tile's Explore Report Builder view; Save a Copy to save the tile to another report; and Rename or Delete the tile.

Share your Dashboard with other InCites users, so they can view your work and see updates to your analysis as you make them.

10. DOI and PubMed ID are included in the Document List export

InCites allows users to easily associate Web of Science content with their systems, which is critical for sustaining the research workflow. In InCites the DOI and PubMed ID will be included with any InCites Document List export. Note that not all documents will have a DOI or PubMed ID. For more information DOI http://images.webofknowledge.com/WOKRS518B4/help/WOS/hs_doi.html PubMedID http://images.webofknowledge.com/WOKRS518B4/help/WOS/hs_pubmedid.html

14

11. Drill into the Document List for any Baseline for Pinned Items

Users can access the full Documents List of the Web of Science Documents when creating Baselines for Pinned Items. Clicking on the hyperlink for the Baseline for Pinned Items in the results table in the Web of Science Documents column will bring up the Document List View. This includes details on each article that contributed to the total count. A range of indicators are included to provide additional information at the article level.

12. View All the New InCites Updates in the system

Discover all the latest

updates of InCites

All users can view new updates to the system by clicking on the ‘New in InCites’ info icon on the Analytics home page.

16

13. Data exports include a content and date/time stamp

15. Shibboleth Updates

Data exports now include a data and export timestamp, so that customers are aware of the content in their reports and can confirm the date their report was created. The data timestamp is identical to the date in the InCites Explorer Filter Summary.

Shibboleth users can now be setup in such a way that allows users to access the system without having to provide an email address to authenticate - email is now an optional attribute for accessing InCites via Shibboleth. For the end user, this process acts very similar to IP authentication; navigating to InCites from within their institution's entitled IP range will grant them access to the platform. Personalization is still required for InCites B&A, but only after accessing the platform via the desired Shibboleth method.
