WHERE ARE YOU BEING CALLED TO

SHARE YOUR TALENTS?

Part of our return to the Lord with gratitude is to fully par-

ticipate in the life of his Church. Are you being called to

serve in a different way this new year? One of the current

volunteer opportunities available in our parish is to coordi-

nate the Vocations Cross ministry for the 9:15 a.m. Mass.

Another is for someone with a strong desire that our Lord is

never alone in the Perpetual Adoration Chapel to coordinate

the weekly schedule for adorers to ensure that individuals

and groups have adopted each hour of the week. If you are

interested in either of these ministries, please contact Spiri-

tual Life Commission Chair Cassi Griswold-Lintz at 790-

PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS

God our Father, You made each of us to use our gifts in the

Body of Christ.

We ask that You inspire young people whom you call to

priesthood and consecrated life to courageously follow Your will.

Send workers into your great harvest so that the Gospel is

preached, the poor are served with love, the suffering are

comforted, and Your people are strengthened by the sacraments.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

ADORATION We encourage everyone to start saying the

Divine Mercy Chaplet. The following is an

excerpt from St. Faustina’s diary: “My

daughter, encourage souls to say the chaplet

which I have given to you. It pleases me to

grant everything they ask of me by saying

the chaplet. When hardened sinners say it, I

will fill their souls with peace, and the hour of their death

will be a happy one. Write that when they say this chaplet

in the presence of the dying, I will stand between My Father

and the dying person, not as the just judge but as the merci-

ful Savior” (Diary, 1541).

Join us this Wednesday, June 21 at 6 p.m. for encounter.

We will be watching a film on Saint Margaret Mary and the

Sacred Heart of Jesus, just in time to better appreciate the

Feast day of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. This documen-

tary, filmed on location in Paray-le-Monial, France, will last

approximately 55 minutes so we will be able to end

promptly at 7 p.m. Come and watch with us — there might

even be popcorn!

BULLETIN/INSERT GUIDELINES

The staff is willing to promote the events of our many min-

istries, councils, commissions and organizations. As much

as possible, please try to plan well in advance to have your

events included in the main body of the bulletin. The

deadline is noon Friday, ten days before the Sunday

publication date. In the event that your information is im-

possible to condense into a short paragraph or is a registra-

tion/order form, we will consider inserting it into the actual

bulletin. Please remember these guidelines:

We have a limit of two inserts per bulletin, so please

reserve your space at least two weeks in advance.

If we print: email insert (8.5 x 11") to Destiny Castillo

by Tuesday prior to approved insert date. Black ink on

white inserts can be printed on colored paper.

If you print elsewhere: Provide 600 inserts by

Wednesday prior to approved insert date. This is the

only way to get full color printing on an insert.

To save on expenses for your organization, consider work-

ing with another ministry to print on the back side of your

insert. To conserve resources, you also may consider print-

ing only a few copies and use them as posters or place a

stack on the designated table in the gathering space for

parishioners to pick up as desired.

Please send all bulletin blurbs and inserts to

Destiny Castillo at [email protected] .

Make www.ctkcathedral.org your home page! If you haven’t visited the parish website in a while, you

have been missing a great resource for: Mass times, daily

zations, resources to enhance your spiritual life, school

regularly, so keep coming back. You’re always welcome at

FATHERS: KEYS TO SUCCESS Pope Francis once defined the primary role of fathers:

“Nothing could better express the pride and emotion a fa-

ther feels when he understands that he has handed down to

his child what really matters in life; that is, a wise heart. It

is a joy that rewards all the toil, that overcomes every mis-

understanding and heals every wound.”

Several years ago Pope Francis presented theological reflec-

tions on the family, including the three keys to being a suc-

cessful father; these keys apply to all kinds of fathers, bio-

logical and/or spiritual.

The first key is a father must be present, “that he be close to

his children as they grow: when they play and when they

strive, when they are carefree and when they are distressed,

when they are talkative and when they are silent, when they

are daring and when they are afraid, when they take a

wrong step and when they find their path again.”

The second key is a father must be merciful and patient: “A

good father knows how to wait and knows who to forgive

from the depths of his heart. Certainly, he also knows how

to correct with firmness: He is not a weak father, submis-

sive and sentimental. The father who knows how to correct

without humiliating is the one who knows how to protect

without sparing himself.”

The third key is a father turns to God for guidance and as-

sistance in fulfilling his vocation as a father to his children:

“Without the grace that comes from the Father who is in

heaven, fathers lose courage and abandon camp. The

Church, our mother, is committed to supporting with all her

strength the good and generous presence of fathers in fami-

lies, for they are the irreplaceable guardians and mediators

of faith in goodness, of faith in justice and in God’s protec-

tion, like St. Joseph.”

“Almighty God, who gave to the just man from Nazareth,

St. Joseph, the privilege of serving as earthly father to Jesus

your Son, through his intercession, watch over our families

and guide us in your ways. May this son of David, in whom

the shoot from the stump of Jesse has blossomed, guide

your people with care and protect your Church from harm.

United with Mary his spouse and Jesus our Lord, may we

be joined forever in the joys of your heavenly king-

dom” (Stephen J. Binz, Saint Junipero Serra’s Camino: A

Pilgrimage Guide to the California Missions) .
