What's Happening in TOM & EBZ? 2018 Global Student Challenge We are excited to announce the partnership between Cal Poly Pomona College of Business Administration and Technology and Operations Management Department with the #1 Supply Chain competition - Global Student Challenge powered by The Fresh Connection! Every year, the Challenge pits teams from across the globe against each other in search of the world’s Top Talent in Supply Chain Management. In April 2017, one team (OMS) representing Cal Poly Pomona, won the Regional Finals located at USC in Los Angeles and continued onto the Global Final week in Zwolle, The Netherlands! There, they had the opportunity to network with top Supply Chain Management talents including fellow students and Supply Chain professionals from all over the world! In the Netherlands, Cal Poly's team was placed 4th out of 20 teams from across the world. This competition is proven to be an excellent opportunity to receive global recognition, potential job opportunities, and an immersive experience for you! Students had the opportunity to gain more insight on Target's operations, supply chain, and the problem they are looking to solve! Thanksgiving with OMS!
OMS members gathered together on Friday, November 17th to celebrate Thanksgiving! This was an excellent opportunity for the club members to bond over some delicious Thanksgiving-themed food!

TOM & EBZ department alumni Greg Boucher spoke to the Operations Management Society about Niagara Bottling and potential job and internship opportunities for this upcoming summer!
Sysco Guest Speaker & Facility Tour
Steve Burns, Vice President of Operations for Sysco, came to OMS to speak about the future of supply chain on Thursday, November 16 th. Thank you Steve Burns for providing insight on supply chain careers and sharing your professional experiences for OMS students.

Career Corner – Top 5 Resume Tips!
The end of the year is approaching, and it's the perfect time to start applying for internships! Here's our top 5 tips to help you impress your future employer!
Tailor your resume. Look through the description and match the job requirements to your unique skillset.
1.
Quantify your resume. For an example, if you saved your company a specific amount of money, mention it! Numbers tend to stand out on a resume and can be an effective way to catch an employer's attention.
2.
Be concise. The typical college student should have a 1 page resume. Remember, employers will only look at your resume for a few seconds, so make the most of it!
3.
Keep it chronological. Your most recent work experience should be first, with your oldest being last. Your future employer will be able to see your most recent work first!
4.
Stay consistent. Keep your formatting the same throughout your resume and ensure there are absolutely no spelling errors! Your resume is a good reflection of your work ethic and attention to detail.
