The Douglas Music Society was founded in 1973. Since then, it has brought musicians from the North West, from round Britain and from all over the world to play here, in Parbold.

In its extensively upgraded home at the Village Hall, Parbold Douglas Music Lancashire welcomes some of the world’s finest musicians. Many return to Parbold as familiar friends. As always, this season’s concerts offer a wide range of high-quality music, from classical piano to brass band to jazz.

Parbold Douglas Music Lancashire has a special place in the North West, presenting some of the world’s finest musicians in the intimate surroundings of an auditorium where everyone is close to the performance. Parbold Douglas Music is a charity, a not-for-profit music society run by volunteers (who pay for their concert tickets just like everybody else). The commitment to make every concert an enjoyable experience for our audience means there is much rewarding work to do as part of the team; new recruits are always welcome.

Piccadilly Symphony Orchestra, Manchester is a new organisation set up to give aspiring professional musicians the opportunity to play in a high-quality ensemble. PSO is passionate about music education and widening audience engagement, believing engagement with music can have a positive impact on individuals and communities. They aim to provide experiences for those who have limited opportunity, bringing orchestral music out of city centre concert halls into the community.

For many years Parbold Douglas Music has presented concerts for children. Each season, Pied Piper concerts give up to 400 local primary school children the chance to come together in a special place to see and hear the creation of live music by international artists and professional musicians.
