WHAT’S HAPPENING MINISTRY UPDATES “To develop disciples of Christ who love Him, grow in Him, and serve Him” Johnston Chapel Baptist Church • 304.425.6315 • [email protected] We are collecting themed items each month this year in support of Operation Christmas Child. For the month of June, we will be taking clothing and shoes that may be on sale as businesses reopen. The collection box will be out by the restrooms for two Sundays, June 21st and June 28th. Deacons Meeting - Conference Room - 8:15 p.m. Thursday Mens Prayer Group – Conference Room – 6:30 a.m. View in the app or visit: http://bible.com/events/15698498 YOUTH MISSION CAMP - The Youth Mission Trip scheduled for June 15-19th and the Student Life Camp scheduled for July 13-17th have both been cancelled. In place of both of these activities, the youth will have the opportunity to participate in a Youth Mission Camp the week of July 13-17th. Part of the week will be spent doing camp activities, with the potential for hiking, white water rafting, canoeing, tubing, and rappelling. The rest of the week will be spent helping serve at a VBS in Welch, WV, among other outreach opportunities. Each day students will be dropped off, and each night students will be picked up; we will not stay overnight. Please sign up by contacting Pastor James and paying the $50 deposit by June 15th. Contact Pastor James with any questions. UPDATED YOUTH GROUP SCHEDULE The youth will begin meeting together again this Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. with a time of fellowship at the Pavilion. OUR JUNE MISSION OFFERING - will go to our missionaries David and Donna Jenkins to help them with purchasing food and supplies for families they minister to in the Philippines. These families live in extreme poverty, which has only worsened during the COVID-19 pandemic. POSITION AVAILABLE! - We need to hire a full-time Custodian to replace Brian Pettrey. We are looking for an individual who is in good health with training and/or experience in custodial work. The individual must have sufficient strength to move furniture and operate equipment. It is preferred that the individual be a member of Johnston Chapel. The basic responsibility of the Custodian is to maintain a clean facility. If you know anyone who might be interested, please contact the church office. ALPINE JUNIOR CAMP - Registration is now open for camp at Alpine for ages 8 to 12. We are still going to camp, but well be doing things a little differently. The NEW dates are July 13th and 14th. It will be a day camp only, so children will travel to camp in the morning and be picked up from the church in the afternoon. JCBC will be the only group there on those days. We will still do many of the fun activities that your kids love. Parents are welcome to attend, and younger children may come with them.
