We will continue collecting themed items
each month for OCC. For the month of
August, we will be receiving crayons, pencil
sharpeners, soap, washcloths, and tooth-
brushes. OCC National Collection week is
November 16—23. More than 10.5 million
boxes were given in 2019. Please support
this outreach to boys & girls around the
world with your shoebox gifts & prayers.

2020 HUNGER CHALLENGE - Heaven Sent Ministries is now packing food in
small groups in their Princeton facility after postponing the Mercer County
Hunger Challenge that was scheduled March 28-29th. They need groups to
continue to give to fund the ingredients as well as to come and pack.
Please consider how you might be involved. For more information, please
contact Nick Cunningham at 304-425-7120.
AS MORE OF OUR CHURCH FAMILY RETURNS - to our in-person
meetings, the Auditorium is becoming more crowded. We have
overflow seating available in the Fellowship Hall so everyone can
meet in the building while continuing to social distance. We will
continue cleaning and sanitizing between services as well. If you
do not have a face covering, masks are available at the Welcome
Center. If you are 65+, considered high-risk, or are a caretaker
for high-risk individuals, we encourage you to attend our
8:30 a.m. service. For those who wish to continue attending in
the parking lot or at home, our services will still be available by
radio via 93.5 FM or online via live streaming on Facebook,
YouTube, and johnstonchapel.org.
OUR AUGUST MISSIONS OFFERING - on Sunday, August 16th, will go
toward our Operation Christmas Child packing party and shipping costs.
Our packing party is tentatively set for Sunday, October 4th.
For safety, the elements will be individually wrapped and placed in the holder
on the back of each pew. A Benevolent Fund Offering will be received. It is
administered by the Pastors and Deacons to care for needs within the church
family. Please use a Special Offering Envelope and mark it “Benevolent.”
TIME TO MOVE UP! - next Sunday will be our move-up day for the children and
youth ministries. Please see Pastor Jason, Pastor James, or Janey Patton to
learn more about where your child will go for the 2020-2021 year.
GLOBAL CROSSTALK - the latest news from our missionaries, is now at
the Information Center. The August Prayer Calendar is also available to
help you pray for our church staff, ministries and missionaries. WE WILL CELEBRATE HERITAGE SUNDAY – on August 16th! All Bible
Fellowships will meet in their classrooms at 9:45 a.m., with a combined
worship service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Pavilion. Kids’ Club will be
cancelled. Pastor John King will bring our message, and we will honor
Pastor Jim Simmons and Brian Pettrey for their years of ministry service
here at Johnston Chapel. We will be set up for social distancing, with a
special section for our seniors but, for the safety of our church family,
there will not be a picnic or activities following the service this year. If you
can help that Sunday morning with setup for the service, please contact
Joey Simmons at (304) 920-0987.
D.M.A. FELLOWSHIP EVENTS - We will enjoy a picnic on Thursday, August
13th at 6:00 p.m. at the church pavilion. Please bring a covered dish
meal to share. Tableware, drinks, etc. will be provided and the meal will
be served with volunteers wearing facemasks and gloves. Tables & chairs
will be setup for social distancing. Note: If you are not comfortable
sharing this meal, please bring your own meal and enjoy this evening of
fellowship. The Garrett sisters, also known as 34Adonai, will bring a
program of music. All senior adults age 55+ are invited to attend.
D.M.A. Fellowship will go to the Wohlfahrt Haus Dinner Theater on
Friday, September 11th, to see How Sweet the Sound. Cost is $47 per per-
son. Our bus will depart from church at 11:30 a.m. Please see Jim
Nofsinger with your payment by Thursday to reserve your place. You can
also bring your payment to the church office or place it in an envelope in
the office drop box. Please make checks payable to Johnston Chapel.
CHAPEL 301 - will be taught by Pastor Dan Thyng on
Wednesday, August 19, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in Room #136.
