What You Need to Know About Living in Central Florida
Presentation prepared by Olde Town Brokers
If you’re looking to move to the Central Florida area but want to avoid the tourist
hotspots of Southwest Orlando, then look no further than
Winter Park and Downtown Orlando.
WINTER PARK
Whether you’re a family, a single
professional or even an active adult
looking for somewhere to enjoy your
golden years, Winter Park offers highly
amenable living for all walks of life
Residents of Winter Park are exposed to a wealth of shopping and cultural options, all while being conveniently located 10 minutes from Downtown.
Take a stroll along Park Avenue, where you can experience boutiques, sidewalk cafés, top-class restaurants and renowned museums, all in the same afternoon.
Smell the roses in Central Park, and make sure to check out the Farmer’s Market on Saturdays.
Winter Park is also a great place for the foodie in everyone. Whether you are looking for coffee, dinner, brunch or even just a sweet treat, you’re sure to find something to cure your craving in one of the many area restaurants.
Check out local favorite Park Plaza Gardens Restaurant for an unforgettable dining experience.
For those that enjoy the outdoors, Winter Park is home to dozens of parks, lakes and trails. Lake Baldwin Park is a great place to spend the day with your family (it’s dog-friendly, too!)
DOWNTOWN ORLANDO
Downtown Orlando is comprised of 5
main areas, which together, form a
harmonious combination of residential and
business, making it a great place for those
seeking the hustle and bustle of urban life
without sacrificing comfort.
Central Business District: Otherwise known as Orlando’s Financial District, this area is also home to many nightclubs
Uptown: Located around Lake Ivanhoe, Uptown is less dense than the CBD, and offers more in terms of space and living.
Lake Eola Heights: Surrounding the beautiful Lake Eola, Orlando’s historic district features brick streets and is often the venue for local events.
Thornton Park: Fashion boutique shops and select restaurants are found on the brick-paved streets of this trendy neighborhood.
Parramore: Located to the west of the CBD, Parramore features a blend of neighborhoods and businesses.
Venues such as the Amway Center (home of the Orlando Magic) and the newly constructed Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts attract big-name acts from the entertainment industry.
GETTING AROUND
One of the great things about living in Central Florida, particularly Downtown Orlando and
Winter Park, is the connectivity of the different communities.
Most people assume the area is very car-centric. And while driving is the main mode of transportation, Downtown Orlando and Winter Park communities are providing residents with alternative transportation options.
SunRail:
The SunRail is a great option for those wanting to avoid the traffic of I-4 or even a summer afternoon thunderstorm. Passengers can stay connected at all times with free Wi-Fi and power outlets on board and trains also have bike racks for those who continue their journey by bike.
SunCycles: The Orlando Bike Share (scheduled to open this winter) will bring affordable bike rentals to the Orlando area. Riders will be able to reserve a bike via computer, phone, or in person.
Rideshares: With rideshare companies like Uber and Lyft becoming increasing popular around the country, Orlando is looking to join the movement. While area leaders are still working out regulatory details, keep an eye out for these alternative transportation.
While we love our Central Florida visitors and the
tourism industry that greatly benefits our economy,
we understand the trepidation about living in such
tourist driven location.
But with numerous shopping, dining, and cultural
activities as well as our growing alternative
transportation options, Downtown Orlando and
Winter Park are great Central Florida neighborhoods
to call home.
