What You Need
• Reddit account
• Website/blog
• Autoresponder (optional) – I recommend Aweber
• CPA or affiliate offers to promote
Niche
As I stated, reddit covers every niche imaginable, and
there are extremely active and passionate communities. So
when it comes to niche selection, you have countless
options to choose from.
However, some are easier than others to become
established. For example, the entrepreneur reddit
community is tougher to sell in than the dog/pet
community. The entrepreneur community is very wary of
spam and knows when you are trying to sell something.
That isn’t always a bad thing. In fact, it can be great
for you because when you do things properly you will be
rewarded both short and long term while everyone else
eventually falls off. It shouldn’t discourage you from
choosing the IM/MMO niche. There is so much potential
there. Just know that it will take just a bit more leg work to
gain trust.
While pretty much any niche is viable, here is a list to
consider.
Starter Niches
• Pet
• Survival
Intermediate Niches
• Fitness
• Diet/Health
Advanced Niches
• IM/MMO
• Bizopp
• Entrepreneur
Let me explain what I mean by Starter, Intermediate,
and Avanced.
Starter niches are what I consider safer because the
communities are not as wary of marketers so you can get
by with providing less content/value and posting more
links to your content. The communities are not filled
with spammers so their guard is not always up.
With intermediate niches, you need to be more aware
of coming off as a marketer. Always provide value in
any post and always give genuine responses and
solutions to questions.
In advanced niches, you MUST provide value in every
post. Not short simple value posts either. Go in-depth
with your posts and have more content posts than link
posts.
Creating Your reddit
Account/Profile This should be self explanatory, but here is a quick
walkthrough with some tips. Go to reddit.com and click on
sign up
Enter your email and click next
Choose your username and password on the next page.
Be sure to make your username niche specific. For
example, if you want to be in the dog niche, your username
can be something like AwesomeDogLover. If you’re in
fitness, it can be FitnessManiac. You get the point. Also, if
you have an established website/brand, it would be best for
your username to be the same.
On the next page, subscribe to 5 subreddits in your
niche.
After this you will have to verify your email, and you are
pretty much set to go!
How reddit Works Before you start going crazy and posting all over
reddit, this section explains the basics and what you should
understand about the platform.
subreddits
Reddit is filled with subreddits, which are basically
communities based around niches. For example
r/Dogtraining is a subreddit community all about dog
training.
Upvotes/Downvotes
All posts made on reddit are subject to upvotes and
downvotes. The more upvotes a post gets, the higher it
appears, the more visibility it gets, and the more traffic you
can potentially get from it.
Karma
When your comment or post receives an upvote, you
also get karma points. There are 2 types of karma points,
link karma and comment karma. The value in karma points
is basically trust. The more karma points you have, the
more trust you have in the reddit community. This is also
why it is important to post informative and truly valuable
content.
Additionally, some subreddits have a minimum karma
requirement. For example, you need to have a certain
amount of karma to be allowed to post.
Do’s And Don’ts Do’s
• Always read the rules of every subreddit you post on.
Yes, reddit has its own universal rules that you must
follow. However, you also must follow the specific
rules outlined by each subreddit.
• Provide real value in every post you make
• Be an active member in your niche. Keep in mind that
other users will often look at your profile and post
history. The more value and actual help you provide,
the more trust you will have.
• Interact with those who comment on your posts.
Always pay attention and keep up with the
conversation. Again, people look at your history.
Staying engaged with your posts ensures people that
you genuinely care and are invested in your niche.
Don’ts
• Don’t constantly post links ONLY to your own
website. Be sure that you also post links to authority
sites, other blogs, etc. Yes, you want to drive as much
traffic as possible to your own website. However, if
someone looks at your post history and sees that you
are only posting links to your own website, then it
becomes clear that you are a marketer.
• Don’t ever post a raw affiliate link. All links should
lead to niche relevant content (blogs, videos, pictures,
etc.) Direct linking on reddit is a big no. Creating a
free blog and writing an article/review about a CPA
offer should take no more than 10 minutes, especially
with the help of the template I give you below.
The 1 to 10 Ratio The 1 to 10 ratio means that you should only post a
link to your own website 1 time for every 10 posts. Now, a
post can be a picture, a video, or even a long text post. It
can take literally a few seconds to do so don’t think that 10
posts is a time consuming task.
While the 1 to 10 ratio is generally recommended, I
like to be even more conservative so here’s how I do
things.
Starter Niches: 1 to 10 ratio
Intermediate Niches: 1 to 15 ratio
Advanced Niches: 1 to 20 ratio
Setting Up Your Website/Blog As I stated before, you do not want to use direct
linking with reddit. That is a big no-no and a quick way to
get you banned.
There are several options when it comes to creating a
blog. You do not even need to purchase domains or
hosting. Setting up a simple free blog from Wordpress,
Blogger, Wix, etc. will work just fine.
Here is a general breakdown of how you should write
your articles and/or reviews. This is an example of a review
Title: Product Name + Review (Insert Image Here) • Explain what the problem is • Explain how the problem negatively affects daily life
or life in general • Say why other products do not work • Explain what makes this product/offer different and
why it is the best solution (Insert Another Image Here)
• Go over at least 3 different features of the product/offer and what you like about it.
(Insert Another Image Here)
• Give some criticism of what you don’t like about the product. Nothing is perfect, and if you give constructive criticism, it increases trust.
(Insert Another Image Here) • Remind the reader what is unique about the
product/offer and why it is ultimately a wise decision to get it.
This is one of the main angles I take when writing an article
about a product/offer. However, there are several ways to
go about it. The main thing to remember is to make it
visually appealing and structured.
Place your affiliate link on every image and at least once in
each section.
The article does not have to be perfect, and you should not
fret over any small things. As long as you get your main
points across, everything will be fine. It should take no
longer than 10 minutes for one article, and you can use the
template above to structure it.
Action Plan Once you have your first articles up, you are ready to
start driving traffic. However, you don’t even need an
article up to participate on the platform. Being active in the
community doesn’t require anything besides your time.
Remember to keep EVERYTHING I have stated
already in mind because reddit can be a tricky platform to
implement in your business. Here are steps you can take to
increase your traffic from reddit:
• Create a list and subscribe to at least 20 subreddits in
your niche. There are countless subreddits in every
niche, and the more you are involved in, the better.
Join big and small communities. The important thing
is that they are active so make sure they have many
recent posts. To find subreddits, simply search for
your niche in the reddit search bar and you will be
presented with several subreddits and users you can
subscribe to
• Search for subreddits in your niche and comment on
10 different popular posts every day. Stay engaged
with any conversation going on that includes you. The
more you do this, the more upvotes and karma you are
likely to receive. Do not post the same comment
multiple times. Reply specifically to the post and give
real insight. Post links to authority websites that have
answers to people’s questions/problems. Do not post a
link to your own website unless the article is very
relevant to the original post. The purpose of these
posts is to gain karma points and trust in your post
history. This is important to keep your account in good
standing as well. This should take around 10
minutes per day at most. Of course, if you want to
do more, that is even better. To find posts to comment,
simply go to different subreddits, click on a post you
are interested, and use the comment box as shown here
• Create 5 of your own posts in 5 different subreddits
related to your niche. I must emphasize, do not ever
post the exact same post in different subreddits. Keep
things fresh and vary things between videos, links,
AMAs (ask me anything type posts), etc. Now, I
recommend to not create your own post in the same
subreddit more than once per day. I actually
recommend to wait at least 2 days to create a post in
the same subreddit and at least 2 weeks to post a link
to your own website in the same subreddit. If you need
inspiration of what to post, simply search videos on
YouTube, search Google for blogs, look for current
news, etc. Your posts can simply use the “I thought
this was neat/helpful and I wanted to share it with the
community” angle. Again, you don’t have to always
post unique content you created yourself. As long as it
is relevant/useful, then it will be fine. This should
take 15 minutes per day at most. To create your own
post, go to a subreddit, and you should find a button
on the right hand side that says “Create Post”
• Create 1 post per day linking to your own website.
Yes, 1 post per day. Again, keep in mind that you
should not post a link to your own website in the same
subreddit less than 2 weeks apart. This is why you
should have at least 20 subreddits in your rotation.
ALWAYS use the informative/helpful angle when
sharing links to your own website. Never hint at
selling or having something for sell. You want to lead
with information/value and naturally guide people to a
solution that can be found in your CPA offer on your
website. Remember, 1 post can literally drive
thousands of people per day so when you do this right,
it can be a big win. This post should take 5 minutes
at most.
• Create 2 new articles per week in your niche on your
website/blog to keep things fresh. This will also give
you more angles to work with and build more trust and
value on your website. Again, you can use the review
template above to help writing your articles. This
should take 20 minutes per week.
These are all super simple and quick steps you can take
every day as you build big and passive traffic streams to
your website and offers.
In total, this should take no more than 30 minutes per
day and just 20 extra minutes per week to write articles
(these can be easily outsourced for cheap as well).
Additional Tips/Quick Strike • Comment popular posts. These get the most activity
and have the potential to drive the most traffic and
upvotes for you.
• Add popular redditors as friends. This will allow you
to keep track of all of their posts.
• Comment new posts from popular redditors. These are
more likely to be upvoted, and if you are one of the
first to comment, then you have an advantage of likely
being upvoted with them if your comment is
relevant/helpful.
• Take advantage of trending topics within your niche.
For example in the health/weight loss niche, the Keto
diet has become popular so making posts about Keto
is more likely to be upvoted and attract discussion.
Conclusion Reddit is a unique, but very powerful community
driven platform. When you use it properly and provide
value, it can be an incredible way to drive huge amounts of
free traffic to your CPA offers. Stay consistent with the
strategies I showed you, and these traffic streams will add
up fast.
