First of all I feel you can't overload them with seeing everything as others have said. You normally have other assistants on the sidelines that are responsible for micro- analysis of specific players/positions. I do the following... 1. WHEN WE ARE ON OFFENSE - watch the defense alignment and personnel for the following: field strength, to TE, to motion. From there look for tendencies 2. WHEN WE ARE ON DEFENSE - watch for formation patterns and how it applies to their playcalling. Chart down/distance tendencies and find a scheme. Compare notes with DC when we are on offensive possession 3. WHEN WE ARE ON SPECIAL TEAMS - don't go to sleep!!! Find a weak link/open area...something we can take advantage of based on formation. In short, I want my box coach looking for a way to analyze game flow and let the sideline coaches watch the players

As a former box coach I can tell you what helped me the most and now as a Head Coach & OC...what I ask of my box coaches on all sides of the ball.

First of all I feel you can't overload them with seeing everything as others have said. You normally have other assistants on the sidelines that are responsible for micro-analysis of specific players/positions. I do the following...1. WHEN WE ARE ON OFFENSE - watch the defense alignment and personnel for the following: field strength, to TE, to motion. From there look for tendencies2. WHEN WE ARE ON DEFENSE - watch for formation patterns and how it applies to their playcalling. Chart down/distance tendencies and find a scheme. Compare notes with DC when we are on offensive possession3. WHEN WE ARE ON SPECIAL TEAMS - don't go to sleep!!! Find a weak link/open area...something we can take advantage of based on formation.

In short, I want my box coach looking for a way to analyze game flow and let the sideline coaches watch the players
