Eye Safety• Make sure to wear goggles

• If you should happen to get something in your eyes…make sure to use the eyewash station

Thermal Safety• Make sure to wear gloves

• Burns are a definite possibility!!!!

• Wear gloves, use hot mitts, and just use COMMON SENSE

Electricity SafetyWe will use electricity…respect it

Do not hang chords over tables or put in the way of areas where people can walkDo not mix with WATER!!!

Chemical SafetyTreat every chemical as a dangerous chemical

NEVER mix chemicals unless told to do so

DO NOT directly smell chemicals…waft them

Hand SafetySome objects may be sharp

Make sure to wear gloves around these objects

Use common sense!!!

Animal Safety• Sometimes in the lab, you will work with animals or biological materials

• When you are finished, make sure to wash your hands fully every time

Glassware Safety• Glass cools very slowly after being heated – DO NOT HANDLE WITHOUT protection

• Never place hot glass on a wooden or metal desktop

• NEVER eat or drink from laboratory glassware

Clothing Protection• In case of a spill, you

don’t want to ruin your clothing, so it would be best to wear one of these…
