The Red Cliffs Historical Steam Railway operates a steam train which has significant importance to Red Cliffs. Unique to Sunraysia it is the only tourist steam train in the area and one of the few small gauge railways throughout Australia. Come and enjoy a ride on an authentic steam train. The Mildura Eisteddfod Society, which has been operating since 1978, holds competitions in Pianoforte, Brass, Woodwind, Recorder, Strings, Vocal, Choral, Vocal Country, Instrumental Ensembles, Groups, and Jazz, Speech and Drama, Dance, Classical Ballet, Song and Dance and Tap.

It encourages and fosters the involvement of people of all ages in the performing arts, with particular emphasis on children and adolescents, along with performance opportunities and feedback from specialists in all chosen fields of performance.

It also encourages community interest in the performing arts.

MILDURA DAY HISTORICAL DISPLAYS Thursday 31– Friday 8 June, Official Display Opening 2pm, Carnegie Centre, 74 Deakin Avenue, Mildura & Mildura Library, Corner Deakin Avenue & Twelfth Street, Mildura

On 31 May, 1887, the Chaffey Brothers, the Victorian Government and the Queen signed an indenture formalising Mildura’s Australia’s first irrigation colony.

To mark this anniversary, Mildura District Historical Society, the Chaffey Trail Reference Group and Mildura Rural City Council will host historical displays, centred around the theme of Clutural Heritage including churches, newspapers, clubs and schools.

Carnegie Centre Display

The display will be officially opened at 2pm on Thursday 31st by Cr Jason Modica and will also host a presentation from guest Tom McCullough.

Afternoon tea will be hosted by the Cardross Progress Association, and a guided tour of the Mildura Club will follow at 3.30pm.

The Historical Society will be open from 10am-4pm Friday 1st, Saturday 2nd, and the week thereafter (Monday – Sat inclusive). Free entry.

School groups are encouraged to arrange a time to attend.

MILDURA DAY EVENING CELEBRATIONS Thursday 31, 7pm, Grand Ballroom, Mildura Grand Hotel, Seventh Street, Mildura

The Chaffey Trail Reference Group and Mildura Rural City Council invite you to join them for an evening of celebrations and history to mark this anniversary.

Entertainment will include live music, a historical play, readings and more. Dress up in period costume and step back in time.

Cost $10

Ticket includes a light supper and a sherry or orange juice upon arrival. Drinks available at bar prices.
