BUILDING GREEN

As a family-owned builder founded in 1914, Elliott Homes has always been concerned about the environment and the impact of the construction process. Mindful of protecting and enhancing natural resources, Elliott Homes builds communities with parks and

recreation nearby; includes walking and bike paths wherever possible; designs landscaping corridors with drought tolerant plants and trees, and maintains or re-creates wildlife and native plant habitats.

Elliott Homes works to preserve and protect the waters of our communities and our country for present and future generations by complying with SWPPP (Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan).

As awareness of and understanding of human impact on the environment continues to grow, Elliott Homes continues to revise and adhere to new policies and procedures to protect and enhance nature in our communities — above expected industry standards.

RINNAI Tankless Water Heater – More than 40% energy savings and continuous hot water. This appliance heats water as needed versus heating a tank all day. No more run-ning out of hot water. Immediate savings

Radiant-barrier Roof Decking – Aluminum foil radiant barrier blocks up to 95% of the heat enabling the HVAC system to run more efficiently

• Dual Flush Toilets – users can select between two water-use options for flushing – 20% less water than standard low consumption toilets

Low Flow Faucets – Delta faucets used in Elliott Homes’ showers and sinks cut back water usages and are part of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Water Sense program.

• Energy Star Qualified Appliances – Meet the strict guidelines of the Energy Star program. Engineered to be 15-50% more efficient without sacrificing quality

Energy Efficient Roof System (Sheathing) – Elevated battens allow air flow under the roof tile. Up to 22% reduction in energy consumption versus standard direct-to-deck installations. Prevents up to 50% of radiant heat from entering the attic, maintaining a temperature up to 30% cooler

Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs (CFLs) – Reduce energy waste, generate less heat and can last up to 10 times longer than standard incandescent bulbs

Enhanced R-15 BIBS Insulation (Exterior Wall)– A rating given to measure heat flow resistance, the higher the “R” rating, the more resistant it is. The standard home today is rated at R-13.

High Efficiency HVAC system – As a part of the government’s Energy Star program the SEER 14 unit assures homeowners of lower energy use, better air quality and more comfort.

Low Emissivity (Low “E”) Windows – Help reduce energy loss 10% – 15% by keeping heat out during summer and trapping warm air inside during cooler months

• Energy Star is a program of the U.S. EPA and the Dept. of Energy. Energy Star builders, such as Elliott Homes, must meet stringent standards of construction, and qualifying homes must be inspected and certified by an independent 3rd party company.

• As a part of the SRP PowerWise program, Elliott Homes voluntarily adheres to strict con-struction guidelines focused on energy efficiency. Homes are inspected by a 3rd party independent company to insure the home is properly insulated throughout to prevent energy loss and perform a building-envelope leakage test, plus verify fresh-air ventilation and pressure balancing of each room.. SRP PowerWise homes are expected to be more energy efficient than homes that simply meet the EPA’s Energy Star home guidelines.

Elliott Homes uses Environmental Protection Agency’s WaterSense certified plumbing fixtures whenever possible.
