What kind of media institution might distribute your product and why?

The Weinstein Company would be a good media institution to distribute our media product as they received a lot of positive reviews for drama genre films. Our media product is also under the genre of drama so this would be a good media institution, as they would understand how to promote our media product and how to work well with the genre of our film.  

This film was distributed by Universal Pictures and it received the third biggest Christmas Day debut upon its release. This would be a good media institution as Universal Pictures are a well known institution so this would improve our chances of our media product becoming well publicised and it would mean that we would have the financial backing and also the well known contacts to make our media product as good according to what we had available. Also, they would be a good institution as their films generally do well and receive high grossing values.

This film was distributed by 20th Century Fox. It is one of the six major American film studios. 20th Century Fox has also distributed famous film series, including Avatar, the first two Star Wars trilogies, Ice Age, Power Rangers, X-Men. It is also known for famous TV series’ such as The Simpsons, How I Met Your Mother. This film was under the genre of drama which was a success. It is also a well known institution and the films it has produced have gone on to do very well. 

Student Reality:

However, in reality, our student movie would be distributed by social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. This is due to our budget as we do not have the money to have a big distribution company. It can also be distributed by promoting them at movie festivals which are local which will attract the audience as many people regularly attend the festivals.
