What is VTAC
• VTAC application services: – Tertiary courses – Admissions Tests (STAT and DULSAT) – Scholarships 2010– SEAS 2010
• VTAC also – calculates and issues the Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR)
for VCE students– provides telephone and online information and enquiry services– conducts information sessions

• Don’t forget the audition fee payments – must be paid on application • NEW FOR 2011:
No audition or processing fee payment, no inclusion on lists to institutions therefore NO OFFER!

be processed. • Available in newspapers (only those who give
permission are included)– Monday 17 January 2011 (6.30pm (18.30hours)).

meet prerequisites – otherwise you won’t be offered and are wasting your time
• Do not send your form in the mail – there are no guarantees
• Always telephone or visit the institution and don’t give up the form unless it is signed by both of you
• A signed form means you have an offer and are no longer eligible for any other offers (including supplementary offers)
• Only one form per applicant is allowed in the system. The first received will override any duplicates.

Special Entry Access Schemes
• Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) is the umbrella program run by most institutions for applicants who have experienced educational disadvantage.
• Applications open 2 August and close 8 October 2010 at 5pm (DEADLINE). • Ten categories all claims must be related to the categories
– No evidence to support statements means no consideration for claim. - 100 pages of brainwaves is as useless as a one sentence statement.

Scholarships
• Some scholarships are for many reasons: – Not only for ‘smart’ students– Not only for ‘economic hardship’
• To apply for scholarships at Victorian institutions apply through the VTAC Scholarship process– Opens 2 August – Closes end of October.

Types of scholarships
• Merit scholarships offered by: Merit scholarships are awarded to students for academic achievement in Australian Year 12 or the International Baccalaureate (IB) in 2010, or equivalent qualification. The key to a successful submission is to
• Meet all the eligibility criteria• Tell the truth• Keep the application individual • Demonstrate IMPACT – its not that an applicant had glandular
fever, but it is how it impacted on them; its not that someone at the school is sick or injured, it is how it impacted on the applicant!
• Clear and concise supporting documentation – 100 pages is as useless as ‘Sarah was sick’. IMPACT, IMPACT, IMPACT.
