What is the difference between the Bishop’s Appeal and the Home Campaign? While the Home Campaign provides an exciting opportunity for the future growth of the Church in East Tennessee, the Bishop’s Appeal impacts the lives of thousands of people each day through essential ministries. Just as a family would not stop buying groceries in order to put a new roof on their home, the Diocese continues to provide for the day-to-day needs of our ministries as we build for the future. Annual gifts help us live. Capital gifts help us grow. Catholic Charities Assists those most in need providing shelter, nourishment counseling, and education. Clergy and Seminarian Formation Provides ongoing formation for our priests, deacons and seminarians. St. Mary’s Mobile Medical Clinic Supports our free mobile medical clinic providing quality care in areas where no other medical facilities are available. Christian Formation Including parish based religious education, strengthening Catholic school education through support of the Catholic Schools Office, marriage preparation, RCIA and justice and peace education and advocacy. Youth, Young Adult and Campus Ministry Teaching the faith, living the gospel and coordinating activities for children, young adults and college students. Parish Priorities Specific parish priorities will receive the largest share of funds. 50% or greater of all funds received will benefit your Parish. Pope Francis Charitable Trust Fund Will provide matching grants to parishes to foster and accelerate their own charitable efforts. 10% of all funds received. Catholic Education Trust Fund Provides needed funding for parish religious education and tuition support for Catholic families. Priest Retirement It is our responsibility to ensure our priests have a dignified retirement. Our New Cathedral As the “mother church” of the Diocese, we will build a sacred space that all Catholics in East Tennessee can call Home. 18% of all funds received will support this effort.
