Sea glass is glass that was dumped into oceans and made its way back to the shore after tumbling around in the water for several years.

Although biodegradable trash dumped into the sea disintegrates over time, glass on the other hand bounces around and breaks into shards and chunks and becomes thicker, rounder, and frosty.

It can take approximately ten to sixty or more years for a piece of glass to
turn into sea glass and make its way to the shore.

Most sea glass on the beach comes from white, green, and brown discarded beer and soda bottles.

Rare sea glass comes mostly from vintage glass tableware and art deco glassware in colors like purple, pink, red, teal, gray, and yellow.

Orange sea glass is the rarest. The odds of finding an orange sea glass
shard are approximately 1 out of every 10,000 you find.

Because sea glass is diminishing in supply since the increase in the
production of plastic, many sea glass collectors believe sea glass is more valuable than most precious stones
like diamonds and rubies.
