When we prophesy• We are giving to

people the very heart of God

Page 14: What is prophesy, session 1

What is in the heart ofGod?

Page 15: What is prophesy, session 1

God’s heart is full of love as He himself is Love.

God is the greatestencourager.

The bible is full of promises of forgiveness,blessings, help andassistance.

His love for us is:

unlimited,

unconditional,

unending.

His plan for us is way beyond our wildest dreams.

love!What is

filling our hearts?

Luke 6:45 (NKJV)

45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouthspeaks.

Proverbs 16:23 (NIV)

THE REALMS OF PROPHECYSUB T ITLE

Page 20: What is prophesy, session 1

THE FIRST REALM OF PROPHECY IS THE BIBLE.

Page 21: What is prophesy, session 1

The bible;

• The prophecy of scripture.

• Biblical revelation in the OT and NT.

• It’s the declaration of the word of God revealed to man.

• This realm of prophecy contains no errors, no mistakes, no imperfections as it is directly inspired by the Holy Spirit.

• When Jesus came, many OT prophecies were fulfilled.

• Some prophecies from scriptures are in the making, while others are still to be fulfilled.

Page 22: What is prophesy, session 1

The seer and speaker of God

• According to the uniform teaching of the Bible the prophet is a speaker of, or for God.

• His words are not the production of his own spirit, but come from a higher source.

• The prophet is at the same time a seer, who sees things in the spirit that do not lie in the domain of natural sight,

• And one who hears things which human ears do not ordinarily receive;

Page 23: What is prophesy, session 1

How prophecy from God originates

• Prophecy has not originated in his own reflection or calculation; this prophecy is little the product of their own feelings, fears or hopes,

• As something extraneous to man and independent of him, it has entered the soul of the prophet with a divine certainty.

• The prophet sees what he prophesies, although he need not have seen it in the form of a real vision.

• He can also "see" words with his inner eyes (Isaiah 2:1).

• It is only another expression for this when it is frequently said that God speaks to the prophet, it is not necessary that there must have been a voice which he could hear phonetically through his natural ear.

Page 24: What is prophesy, session 1

• The prophet must bee able to distinguish the contents of this voice from his own heart.

• Only in this way he is capable of speaking to the people in the name of God and able to publish his word as that of God.

• In this case he is the speaker of Yahweh (nabhi'), or the mouth of the Lord (compare Ezekiel 7:1 with 4:16).

• Under these conditions the prophet is absolutely compelled to speak. (Amos 3:8).

• The words burn in his soul until he utters them (Jeremiah 20:7,9).

Page 25: What is prophesy, session 1

2. Prophetical Inspiration

•The divine power, which comes over a human being and compels him to see or to hear things which otherwise would be hidden from him, is called by various terms expressive of inspiration.

Page 26: What is prophesy, session 1

It is said that the Spirit of God has

• Come over someone (Numbers 24:2);

• Or has fallen upon him (Ezekiel 11:5);

• Or that the hand of Yahweh has come over him (2 Kings 3:15; Ezekiel 1:3; 3:14,22)

• Or that the Holy Spirit has been put on him as a garment, (1 Chronicles 12:18; 2 Chronicles 24:20);

Page 27: What is prophesy, session 1

It is said that the Spirit of God has

• The Spirit of revelation has permanently descended upon him (Numbers 11:25; 2 Kings 2:15; Isaiah 11:2; 61:1)

• Or that God has given this Spirit of His (Numbers 11:29; Isaiah 42:1)

• Or pours Him out upon man (Joel 2:28; Hebrews 3:1).

Page 28: What is prophesy, session 1

Inspiration does not suppress human consciousness

• The recipient is in possession of his full consciousness, and later is able to give a clear account of what happened.

• The individuality of the prophet is not eliminated by this divine inspiration; but his individuality cooperates to shape which has been seen and heard.

• The inspiration of the prophet is evidenced by an exalted language, which assumes a certain rhythmical character.

Page 29: What is prophesy, session 1

Inspiration does not suppress human consciousness

• His personality is a factor in the revelation that comes to him.

• A prophet can have predominance of visions; while another has no visions.

• The form in which the prophet gives expression to the word of God is determined by his personal talents and gifts and also by his experiences.

• And I pray to the Father, that His Spirit of Revelation be stirred up within you. That He open your spiritual eyes and ears so you will be able to perceive what are the secrets of His heart, that the coals of His altar touch your mouth so you will be able to boldly speak what He is revealing through you. That He so transformed your heart that you may see people through His eyes and you may come to fill what He is feeling for them. That the prophetic words that will come out of your mouth be with power and authority to transform lives and situations, that the anointing that already is in you be incremented in great measure, that the gifting, abilities, talents and skills that you have be sharpened by Himself and then used to bring glory and honor to His name; and that you be used as a powerful weapon in His mighty hands and become a winner of souls and a natural expander of His Glorious Kingdom wherever you go.

• To Him belongs all the honor, all the glory and all the power, for ever and ever. Amen.
