What is Imperial College Union?

• The students’ union of Imperial College• Provides:– A student view on most College committees– Impartial welfare advice– Over 300 clubs & societies– A variety of commercial outlets

Statistics

• Annual turnover of £3.5m• 54% of all students (UG + PG) are members of

a club or society– Probably the largest student activities programme

in the country

ICU is student-led!

• Council of ~50 students sets overall policy• Executive of ~15 responsible for operational

policy and resource allocation• 5 Sabbatical Officers manage day-to-day

operations – Elected every year by cross-campus ballot

• Every club has a chair, treasurer and secretary• Clubs are split into groups for management– Recreational (RCC), Social (SCC), Athletics (ACC),

Overseas Students (OSC)– Faculty Unions also have some clubs, e.g.

Engineers Without Borders– And there is a special group for the former Royal

School of Mines departments
