What is Croydon Smoking Cessation Service?The Croydon Smoking Cessation Service provides free help and support to those who wish to stop smoking. It provides information and access to Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) and other stop smoking medicines. Anyone living or working in Croydon can access the service.
The service is delivered by a network of over 70 providers throughout the borough, in GP surgeries as well as pharmacies, community centres and Hospitals.
What does the service offer? • Clients see an advisor on a one-to-one basis or as part
of a group, for up to12 weeks
• FREE, weekly confidential help and behavioural support
• Access to FREE 12 week NRT with option for dual NRT for first 4 weeks
What can clients expect? • Weekly one-to-one or group support with a specially
trained advisor
• Advice on suitability of various stop smoking medications
• Liaison with appropriate clinician regarding potential effects on other medication
• Carbon monoxide monitoring
• Tips to deal with cravings and withdrawal symptoms
• Help to manage difficult situations and prevent/ manage relapse

How do I become a Stop Smoking Advisor?Level 2 Stop Smoking Advisor
Public Health Croydon provide training to become a certified Level 2 Stop Smoking Advisor. The training comprises of a short, online training module, followed by a 2 day training session.
Brief Intervention in Smoking Cessation
Public Health Croydon also deliver training in Brief Intervention in Smoking Cessation. This half day training session, gives participants a basic understanding of smoking cessation support and the skills to effectively use brief opportunistic interventions with smokers to talk about the benefits of giving up smoking.
This training is aimed at front line staff that work in Schools, Children Centres, Community Centres, GP surgeries and pharmacies, as well as those that have an interest in Smoking Cessation.
